Title: You say you wnat a revolution?

Emus in denial - November 21, 2004 10:44 PM (GMT)
Tensions have been gradually working their way up to a boiling point in Emus In Denial recently. Incidents of Billboards being put to the torch and organized protests blocking access to corporate headquarters are at an all time high. EID Think Tank estimates that illegal anti-corporate actions last month are triple what they were in October 2003. In retaliation lobbyists from mega-corporations like United Munitions and Emu Mineral Extraction have pushed a bill into the house of representatives which would allow the use of lethal force on protesters found on their properties. The representatives will vote on this bill on monday.
At the heart of this civil disobedience is an organization that refers to itself as "citizen's for equality". The group started with a core group of twelve unemployed professors who had their contracts terminated by Brighter Kids Brighter Futures Ltd. on the grounds of inflammatory teachings. A curtly worded email from "citizens for equality" states that it is their belief that they were fired purely because every one of them had socialist sympathies. "Citizens for equality" has rejected every offer for an interview that this reporter has put forth to them.

Carbanousa - November 22, 2004 12:36 PM (GMT)
The recent outbreaks of civil viloence have not gone unnoticed by the Carbanousan Intelligence and Inqusition Directorate. High Inquisitor Xuixos has been devoting considerable time as to the preferred method of intervention, if any. An official communiqué from The Fortess Monastery Prime will be released shortly from The High Priest and his official aide Cleric Delgardo, Minsiter of Enlightenment. It is rumoured that an offer for assistance may be issued but the Fortress Monastery Prime is maintaining high confidentiality regarding this issue.

OOC: I pretty much forgot about this I'm going to try resuming it though, I do have plans for this to escalate so it is very likely I'll be welcoming foreign intervention at that time

Richard Vanhousen, the CEO of EmuFeds inc. (Nasdaq: EGOV), extends thanks to the Carbanousan government for their offer of assistance at this juncture. We currnetly see no reason for an armed intervention and we assure the international community that the fine goods made within Emus borders will continue to be delivered throughout the region.

As originally anticipated "corporate defense bill #76d" was past by a resounding majority in the house of representatives today. A last minute modification to the bill required that those corporate properties eligible to take advantage of the bill are required to be surrounded by a fence of at minimum two meters height to reduce the possibility of accidental homicides. Detractors of the bill are still insistant that even in its ammended state the bill is "too draconian." At present there appears to be little support in the government for a re-examination of the bill.

This is Wlidman Will on JDRV independant radio, I'll return to spinning our zesty brand of indie rock in just a few minutes but first I'd like to give a forum to a man whose voice is going ignored by the mainstream media. Noel Fendik taught in the department of geological sciences for six years at Emutonia university before his tenure was prematurely terminated in May for "socialist leanings." Without further ado here's Dr, Fendik.

NF: I would like to thank you for having me on your show tonight, the corporate owned stations have all ushered me out their doors almost as soon as I had entered them.
WW: No problem, I like to we do what we can for the little guy, tell us what brings you to our door this fine evening.
NF: Put simply, the corporatocracy has gone too far.
WW: Bold statement what do you back it up with.
NF: As you may have heard on the TV news lately "citizens for equality," of whom I happen to be a member, is a hot topic of discussion. I assure you we have not been encouraging people to throw glass bottles at store windows as the media would imply. Ours is a course of grass roots action, don't fight the system, change the system.
WW: hang on, hasn't the mainstream media been going on about how you guys refuse to go for interviews.
NF: An honest straight forward interview in front of the public is something we've put a lot of effort towards. Channel 3 opted out of airing the interview we recorded with them as they said that it lacked exitement and they would lose viewers. ENN simply told us that a contradiction between our aims and the long term goals of their sponsors meant that they wouldn't give us air time. They all want to portray us as incendiary dissidents, and now they're getting what they asked for. Some of the populous has gotten the idea that violence is the solution and that is why that horrid bill 76d could see the light of day.
WW: so what you're saying is that the violence portrayed by the media reciprocates into the violence that's been happening on the streets.
NF: precisely, the quest for viewership has caused many sources to fan the flames with sensationalism. Our group was originally founded to combat the social inequality inherent in this strongly capitalistic state through education and governmental reform. The more I watch the more obvious it becomes that we must start with the media.
WW: I've got a few callers on the lines. Emutonia make yourself heard, hello your on the air do you have anything to say to the good doctor?
caller1: Do you want to be taxed half to death like all the welfare states ot there!?
NF: Taxes for those who can afford it are an inevitability if we are-
caller1: people like you won't be happy until us honest working folk are all carrying the dead weight of society [click]
WW: that went well, maybe our next-

Defectiveness - December 29, 2004 05:23 PM (GMT)
The Grand Minister of Defectiveness has issued the following statement in a press conference earlier today at the House Of Foreign Affairs in Defective City.

'People of Defectiveness and the region of Canada, I'm sure many of you have heard of the recent instabilities in the nation of Emus In Denial. Such dissidence among the populous is not something our government likes to see in an exporter of goods such as Emus In Denial. We feel it is our duty to offer assistance to Emus, as well as to protect our own monetary bottom line. If prices go up, payment has to go up as well. This is NOT something that we would like to see. This government would also like to take the time to throw it's support behind corporate defense bill #76d. A similar law has been in place in our own country for almost 70 years. That is all."

Riot police then dispersed the local crowds and the DIICA (Defective Internal Intelligence Control Agency) began editing tapes to show on the evening news. A copy of the press conference has been sent to Defective Embassies across Canada.

OOC: I do hope this is an open R.P... as my web-browser randomly goes back... I need to run a virus scan again.

Gemetria's Alias News Services runs a story on its News server.

"DIS (Alias) – The Gemetria Senate has unanimously applauded the passing of Corporate Defense Bill #76d. Praetor Hershelt remarked that “This [bill] is very reasonable. We think that violent protests such as the ones that are happening in Emus are undemocratic, and are not in society’s best interests. There are proper channels that must be used in a civilized society for discussion; violence is not one of them. And if these people are unable to conduct themselves within their society, then they are an enemy of it. Their state is completely justified in exorcising itself of such people.”

The Baire Group, an Aminica based civil rights watch-dog, has sounded a word of caution with this bill. They have issued a press releases outlining their concerns, which is mostly centred on signage to be found on the fence, and that sufficient warning is to be given.

It should be noted that Gemetria has granted its Magna Societies semi-autonomy, and are able to defend their properties from unauthorized access with lethal force.”
