In light of your comments that were released on today's cabinet reports, I have removed my endorsement of you. I would ask that you correspondingly remove your endorsement of me.

So, disagree and get un-endorsed?

bweezy - September 29, 2004 11:17 PM (GMT)
Question the intention of my motives, and get unendorsed. You can believe and state that I was wrong in speaking for the region in the SP embassy. You can believe that I had poor tact. Those are valid points. But when you insinuate that the point I made was wrong, and that in fact the SP had every right to use our embassy improperly, then I openly question your judgement and ability to lead this region. And as such, you don't deserve my endorsement. And conversely, I don't want yours.

MrPopo - September 30, 2004 05:05 AM (GMT)
Then count me as unendorsed too, my friend

Carbanousa - September 30, 2004 11:22 AM (GMT)
Hold on everbody. Take stock for a moment. There's no need to enter into a Regional dispute about this. This is exactly how civil-wars begin, as the Region becomes divided over an issue. All points made thus far have been legitimate and logical. It seems that the matter has been resolved, albiet fragmentally, and the focus should now be on developing a policy for conduct within other Regions' Foreign Embassy's if it is decided that this would be of benefit, in conjunction wth the repair of relations with the South Pacific if needs be. Personaly, I think a set of guidelines would allow the Diplomats of Canada to set a precedent for the rest of the NationStates world, but also appreciate that this will be difficult to draft, and may encounter difficulties, or unwarranted provocation from some parties.

I don't want to see people fall out due to a difference of opinion, but I appreciate that there are issues here that need to be brought to a conclusion. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone, but stating the logical course of action. Bweezy, if you feel that this is inappropriate you may remove your Endorsement, but I will not remove mine as you have my total respect within the game. MrPopo, the same also applies to yourself, and likewise I shall not remove my Endorsement from you. I do not want to witness this Region begin to tear itself apart from the inside where several of the most high-profile members are at odds and will act in whatever capacity I am able to prevent such an occurence from happening.

I unendorsed you long ago. Not that you actually noticed. And don't refer to me as your friend. That is clearly not the case.

People can disagree with me, and I will maintain my endorsement - it happens all the time. Every week, someone makes a comment about me somewhere in the Cabinet report. I take those comments seriously, but understand where they come from and concede the point.

But, as stated, in my opinion, Ess' viewpoint suggested that:

1. SP personnel were in their rights to use our embassy to promote their own non-Canadian agenda; and
2. By inference, my conduct was not a legitimate manifestation of the assertion of our sovereignty over our embassy, but rather, the manifestation of some other agenda.

Point 1 leads me to believe that Ess lacks the basic understanding of the need to promote out sovereignty, and point 2 leads me to believe that Ess questions my motives, and is inferring that my motives are not in line with the general good of this region.

On both counts, she is no longer deserving of my endorsement, no matter how capable she may be. I reject the proposition that Ess point was logical on either front.

Carbanousa - September 30, 2004 01:17 PM (GMT)
Now I understand your position. With regard to point 1):
QUOTE (Bweezy)
1. SP personnel were in their rights to use our embassy to promote their own non-Canadian agenda;

If this truly be the case, perhaps a review of our Embassy in the South Pacific should be undertaken. I am in no way infering that we should close the Embassy, but instead make a thorough evaluation as to it's purpose and actions within the Region. Perhaps, if considered a worthwhile activity, the Embassy could undertake a more pro-Canadian approach to promote a positive view of the Region rather than just undergo the expected political and bureaucratic rigmarole of having an Embassy in place for having an Embassy's sake. By this, I mean more than just the weekly Regional update and polite banter within the various threads.

bweezy - September 30, 2004 01:35 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure what the purpose of any embassy in this game is - I was under the impression it was a place where we reported on our region, fielded questions from those in the recipient region, and allowed Canadians vacationing abroad to hang out.

I am entirely sure that the purpose of our embassy is *not* to be hijacked and used by members of other regions to promote their narrow agendas which have nothing to do with our region. Clearly, not everyone agrees on that point, given this contents of this week's cabinet report.

And as to the point of "civil war" - let examine everyone's conduct, shall we?

I fundamentally disagreed with Ess, to the point where I could no longer, in good conscience, endorse her. Out of respect of her office, I gave a succinct note informing her of my decision, and the reason why. I did this via TG, as I did not want to put her on the spot publicly, nor direct the energies of the region to an issue which, if not dead, was certainly dormant.

To my knowledge, no one asked Ess to make this a public issue, no one asked her to resurrect this issue, and no one asked her to bring the spectre of "civil war" forth - that is a decision that was hers and hers alone.

Carbanousa - September 30, 2004 02:06 PM (GMT)
Point conceded. The fereference to Civil War was, perhaps, premature but most certainly unjustified.

Not to be nitpicky, but last week I did go through my endorsement list to compare it to others in the region, and Bweezystan was still part of that list at the time.

As of now nobody apparently has my endorsements due to the glitch and that will take some time to fix this weekend. But you will still recieve an endorsement from me Bweezy, as Carb stated, in the spirit of the game and how I like to play it. But if you want to unendorse Ess for feeling your actions were not entirely appropriate, then yes, feel free to continue to unendorse me (you may want to double check that you HAVE in the last week, I haven't been to my list in a while).

I appologize for calling you "friend" in the spirit of harmony and regional brotherhood. Clearly this offends you greatly. I shall not use the term so lightly" in the future as per your request.

Carb...
No civil war is neccessary. This isn't the first time members in this region haven't seen eye to eye. I'm sure dispite the "player feelings on playing the game" we'll all still get along just fine. Besides, the occasional debate/opposition is good for the soul :)

You are mistaken. Bweezystan unendorsed you 10-14 days ago, prior to the glitch. You remain unendorsed. Despite your claim that none of your endorsements remain, yours is still apparent in my list of regions that endorse me.

I didn't unendorse Ess for thinking my actions "were not entirely appropriate". By stating that, you are once again lying, and once again misleading the people of this region. Others also made the suggestion that my actions weren't entirely appropriate, yet they are still in receipt of my endorsement and support. As I've stated, I can see why people would think that, and agree to an extent. To make an understatement, I'm clearly not perfect, and have clearly been known to lack tact and handle situations in a less than perfect manner.

I would point out that my reasons for unendorsement were clearly stated earlier in this very thread, where I stated that Ess' comments led me to believe that she lacks the basic understanding of the need to promote out sovereignty, and that she questioned my motives, inferring that my motives were not meant with the good of this region in mind.

Disagree with my manner of operating - that's fine. However, don't infer that my motives were anything less than in the best interests of this region, and don't infer that our foreign embassies are to be used as the personal playgrounds of any old non-resident nut job who wants to promote an agenda that has nothing to do with this region.

Conversely, I unendorsed you in the spirit of the game, namely that the thought of you becoming delegate of this region mortifies me beyond belief.

And cut the brotherhood crap. There hasn't been any of that between us for quite some time. To pretend that such feelings exist is both dishonest and disingenuous.

DrunkenHosers - September 30, 2004 09:14 PM (GMT)
Ahem. Please keep in mind that this is the International Incidents forum, not the domestic arguments forum. This discussion is heading rather severely off-topic. (Citizen's Voice would be a more appropriate venue, perhaps.)

I would also like to remind everyone that "Flaming" is an offense under the Board Use and Ejection Guidelines. In my opinion, that line has not yet been crossed. But the possibility seems imminent.

bweezy - September 30, 2004 09:20 PM (GMT)
Feel free to use your authority as MRA to sever that portion of this thread from September 29, 3:32 CST and start a new thread in an appropriate forum.

As a point of clarification...due to the glitch, nations were updated in 2 different groups. Bweezystan, MrPopo, myself, and others were in one, Carb, DH, etc. were in the other. The one's in the first group had all their endorsements to others disappear...except to those who were in the same group, hence why MrPopo's endorsement is still there, and mine.

As for endorsing and unendorsing...I believe that for whatever reason you endorse/unendorse people is entirely up to you. Whether it be, you don't agree with their policies, you don't like them, etc. If for any reason you have a reason to not want to see that person in the delegate's seat in the future...unendose them. It's part of the game.

That does seem to be the appropriate break-point. Done.

Right...and the difference (without using so many words) is.....(think game, not personal)

I believe I have the right to infer what I want from your comments, Bweezy. I'm not about to get on the topic of censorship. I have the right to an opinion too.

Just because my opinion differs with yours, doesn't make me wrong. It makes me wrong to you, but not wrong in general.

Thats fine. I have no problem with that. But for clarification, in no way shape or form have I made any sort of move on the delegacyship or stated that I intended to capture it. Infact, I have stated often that I do not want to be delegate, and would immediately step down from the position if handed to me. While I have a high number of endorsements, and I have made this clear times before, I only wish to amuse myself by seeing how close I can come to our current delegate. Blackshear has my full support as delegate if Chex should ever step down or lose the delegacy for some reason.

Maybe it's because of my socio-communist politics or socialist social agenda that I inferred our brotherhood in this region, and attempted to be comrades thinking that we were on relatively friendly terms, or trying to repair these terms (dispite the personal beliefs I do have about your conduct which I will not get into because it doesnt really matter because this is just a game and forum for discussion, and I can see past them). I've made several some-advised attempts at not furthering any feeling of animosity. I was sadly mistaken. Obviously you've had a personal problem against me I was totally unaware of, honestly, and I do appologize again for offending you by assuming that because we were in the same region we were brothers and on relatively friendly terms.

I happily accept your unendorsement then, and do not wish to cut this wound any deeper.
