I have at least one vegetarian friend who always gets annoyed by people asking "Do you eat [insert name of meat here]?" I never understood that--"vegetarian" means "no meat" (sorry, I don't think only eating chicken and/or fish counts as being a veggie--that's just healthy meat-eating)

Agreed. I hate that question more than anything, come to think of it. ("Not even chicken?!?!" <_< ). But I don't get it often, the only times I think I've ever been asked that, was by Americans. It appears as though most Canadians (well...Torontonians at least) know what "vegetarian" means.

More often I get the opposite, like "Do you still drink milk?"....(my answer "Yes, I'm vegetarian, not vegan."). That question I don't mind as much though.

Did you live in Rez? I'm assuming not, which is something that always pisses me right off, people who come into rez(usually Kelsey too, the building I live in) and decide to use our T.V and have naps and shit like that... ya know, I wouldn't do that @ somebody else's house if I was working or going school nearby, and just walk in and start watching T.V, i've told enough of those (expletive deleted) to get the hell out.

Anywho, seeing as how you don't live in rez, i'm not sure how to answer that question, all I can say, is that everytime I go down there, I see that the T.V nerds are there watching some garbage on space or Undergrads(wasn't a bad show the first ten times I saw it) or something that nobody gives a shit about. Since i've gotten back, i've only watched the World Cup of Hockey, and, that's b/c somebody had to highjack the T.V from the nerds so to speak. So, I dunno where you get that idea from, but, I can assure, based on my own experience, that's not true in the Kelsey T.V lounge.

True, around work this summer, the motto was, "anytime is a good time for a drink" :blush: , mind you, I was working w/ Alcoholics and Drugs Addicts so I dunno... :blink:

lol. No. No I wasnt a rez resident. But I didnt just "hang" there either. I was invited for lunch by friends on a regular basis, and sometimes for supper. (pizza in the tv room).

I dont know about kelsey but the U of S....different story. I'd rather watch nerdular shows on SPACE. But you're right, Undergrads is annoying as hell.

My school's residences have really strict security...but I guess that's because it's right in the heart of downtown T.O....they don't want anyone...uh..."questionable" just walking in there.

I'm so glad I never took up residence in student housing. The only times I was ever in a dorm were for band camp and some visits to friends who lived in dorms, and that was plenty of exposure as far as I'm concerned.

I guess that's not a good attitude to have around those folks. Luckily, nobody I know is an alcoholic because, as the saying goes "You're only alcoholic if you go to [specific] meetings"

Hey, I love rez man... if I didn't live in rez, i'd probably be quite bored, and, it's not just the drinking... if your a first year and a moderately quiet person, the only way your gonna make plenty of new friends is to live in rez. Yeah, there is lots of drinking but, at the same time, I can do that off campus if I so desire so, the whole drinking aspect isn't as important to me. What is important though, is to be able to socailize and meet lots of new people and rez, is the best place for that. I.E, I probably met somewhere in the neighbourhood of about 100-125 people who I can honestly say I know well enough to say "hey" to meanwhile, my off-campus friend probably only has about ten.


yeah, all those guys wouldn't admit to being alchies either but yeah, I know what you mean. The guys who do coke have even bigger problems than the coke, which is really scary I think. Supposedly one of them saw a murder in Edmonton and that's why they were in Shaunavon... I dunno if it's true or not, but, some of the lads on the Town of Shaunavon have numerous personal problems which would take many pages to explain... and that's what i've been made aware, there's probably more crap that I don't know about.

At my school, we had block scheduling so you pretty much got to hang with the same group of people all semester. You get familiar with them really quickly.

As for the downsides, I was thinking along the lines of TV watching (can't watch what you want all the time), people being up/about at times when you want to sleep, lack of privacy in general. It would take too much alcohol to deal with that stuff.

That's the second of two things I have to try with a Chimay: last summer, I went to Chimay, Belgium, and the people who hosted me there taught me that the monks, while sick, used to put sugar in their Chimay, warm it up so the alcohol % goes up, then make sure they're already in bed, and drink it.

It's said you sure to fall asleep right away and awake the next morning in top shape.
