Title: Political Compass
Checkers McDog - February 7, 2004 07:36 PM (GMT)
I did another one of these tests (with different questions) for my world issues class yesterday and I got:
Economic Left/Right: -8
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -9
much lower than my other scores

Here is an interesting quiz called
the Political Compass. It tries to diagnose where you fall on a political spectrum.
My Score
Economic Left/Right: -4.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.51
So I'm socially liberal and economically left, according to the quiz.

Canadian Commie - January 12, 2004 07:24 AM (GMT)
if anyone beats me I'd be very surprised. I find myself quite left of centre on a lot of issues.

I agree. I love doing these quizzes.
I got:
Economic Left/Right: -4.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.95
It appears this makes me a centrist among my regional neighbours.
Anyone thoughts on where Paul Martin ranked? He was in the upper right quadrant. I thought he would have been little closer to centre.

Martin certainly would be on the right. We'll see if he is in the middle right or upper right, depending on how his stance on drug reform and same-sex marriage evolve. I suspect the upper right designation is the correct one.

I agree that Martin is upper right material. I just thought he'd be closer to the centre within that sector.
Canadian Commie - January 16, 2004 07:23 AM (GMT)
his fiscal policies puch him to upper right. his social policies is what balances him out as a slightly right of centre politician.
but, he is the one that made those huge budget cuts a few years back, and I would not doubt he 'd do it again if he get sthe chance.
he has said he will retable the Marijuana and Same Sed Marraige Bills (at leat hte marijuana one I know he is gonna do, he may still scrap the same sex marriage law)

Not quite Hilter, but I'm still young.
bweezy - January 20, 2004 03:04 AM (GMT)
Wow. Intollerant, *and* aspires to be hitler...
Checkers McDog - January 20, 2004 03:06 AM (GMT)
hey bezo, did you know that hitler was a vegetarian?
EmperorBezo - January 20, 2004 03:07 AM (GMT)
Hitler wasn't so bad. I mean, sure he picked on people because of their religion and their sexual orientation, but you have to admit those uniforms looked pretty spiffy.
Besides, people who speak out against the state ought to be executed. The needs of the individual are insignificant.
Checkers - Well, nobody's perfect.

I blame my parents, the fact that they're republican, and the fact that I think people should save their money for bad times instead of expecting others to take care of them.

that's a terrible excuse :P
my parents are conservative...it's had no effect on me
Canadiiya - January 20, 2004 03:23 AM (GMT)
Actually, its not even both of them, just my dad. But they're both Bush supporters....
...Although I can see why, in some situations...
Canadian Commie - January 22, 2004 04:57 AM (GMT)
I'm a staunch leftist in a family of traditional conservatives.
I figure that, except in a few cases ,most people turn out exactly opposite of their parents.
so, if we got a Neo-Con dominated ideology right now, think of how leftist it wil lbe when they are all feeble and unable to hit the polls...
Canadiiya - January 22, 2004 04:59 AM (GMT)
I didn't realize until yesterday that I was going to be old enough to vote in the presidential election...
Pretty sure I'm voting the same as my parents.
Canadian Commie - February 1, 2004 06:05 AM (GMT)
Economic Left/Right: -9.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.26
I retook it. I reevaluated the questions and got a hugely more leftist result
go me!

Erm, yes, actually.
I'm mostly republican in my views, with few exceptions.
Methinks I'm one of the few here who can make that claim, though.

Funny how someone evolves after a year and a half:

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.64
I'm more economically conservative, and more libertarian than I was 18 months ago.

More conservative, and slightly more libertarian.
