Title: Top 99 Rankings
Description: So they just remove the top ones?

Mika Saigo - June 19, 2003 10:22 PM (GMT)
:( well, i re-enlisted in the top 99, so hopefully i can climb back up a little bit. 1st is trilokan and they only have 900 something votes, so hey, there's always a chance i might get back up there... :) go ahead and start voting again guys, it should count 'em. thanks!

~Mika

Ok, so everybody knows the top 99 rankings were broken into, the images and text on the top ten ranked were changed. So they just go and remove the top ten ranked pages and assume that's a fix? I mean come on, PoaFA isn't there, Utukki isn't there either. Pretty lame if you ask me. http://www.noddingcat.net/onlinemanga/

It's not like the ratings were hacked, just the images and text it showed, so removing them all seems a bit harsh. You know they make things called backups, they should try them.

weak ass bast@rds. (yeah, it's sensored, go figure..)

ok i feel better now.

CrimsonBlaze - June 19, 2003 04:40 AM (GMT)
oh yeah, something happened to the rankings
the top ten sites were changed to all of the same site that wasn't even a manga site o.0;
i forgot about that
and now PoaFA isn't back up there after they fixed it? damn those ppl! :angry:

YoruMitsukai - June 19, 2003 04:45 AM (GMT)
I say.. Flame them!!! XD Butr really, that is dumb o.0; They could've just closed it and put up a construction thingy, but still kept the page in reserves somewhere and then contacted the artists about getting their stuff fixed or something? I really dunno since I never really pay attention to these things >>;;

Arloth - June 19, 2003 04:53 AM (GMT)
It's still weak that they let the site get broken into. It's too bad NetCraft doesn't have any data history on them. http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph/?host=www.noddingcat.net although, they have enough mods on their apache server, you'd think they'd keep it secure.

Heck the anime.101main.com server has been pretty much up since December, minus a few restarts for fixes and such, without a single incident. The backup server has been running for over 100 days without restarting now, which reminds me it still has a copy of the website from december on it. Hey, well, there were 14000 hits on Mika's page back in december, it's doing pretty good I'd say.

YoruMitsukai - June 19, 2003 04:56 AM (GMT)
True, very true. I have no clue how all this big servery stuff works and such, but I know it is very sad when a site gets hacked and stuff... I remember an old site I went to a REALLY long time ago and a few of their pages had been hacked o.0; It looked realllllly weird...

CrimsonBlaze - June 19, 2003 07:30 PM (GMT)
it sucks
and the fact that now the rankings are all screwed up 'cause they didn't remember to put up some of the manga sites that were up there . . . it's just stupid

YoruMitsukai - June 19, 2003 08:25 PM (GMT)
I just looked at it.. It IS way out of whack.. o.0; But I read a lot of those comics... o.o; Like Hybrid Genesis... Hopefully in the next motnth or so this thing will sort itself out...

CrimsonBlaze - June 19, 2003 08:33 PM (GMT)
*nods* HOPEfully
i haven't really read those other ones 'cept PoaFA but i've heard of some of them
but that's only 'cause i just don't read a lot of these kinds of webcomics

CrimsonBlaze - June 19, 2003 11:50 PM (GMT)
ok
i'm gonna start voting more often so PoaFA can be back up at the top again!
EDIT-ok i just went to vote for PoaFA but it turns out the rankings were hacked into again by someone else *sighs* this is getting annoying

Arloth - June 20, 2003 03:58 AM (GMT)
It's a poorly run Top 99 list. VERY LAME. The hack must be relatively easy to do, since apparently it's happened before, and will continue to happen until they change the way the server runs.

We should start our own top 100 page.

Boredom - June 20, 2003 11:18 AM (GMT)
They hacked it again this time it's just a link to h4x0r5 google the guy even left his E-Mail... Oh and he only did the top 3..

YoruMitsukai - June 20, 2003 05:18 PM (GMT)
Again??? Urgh... But I agree, we should start our own XD

CrimsonBlaze - June 20, 2003 06:03 PM (GMT)
yes, we should start our own top 100 rankings page *nods in agreement*
it'd be better than this one where it gets hacked all the time -.-;

YoruMitsukai - June 20, 2003 10:18 PM (GMT)
I think, if we DO make out own top 100-or-whatever-number-ranking-thingy then we should do it soon 'specially if this thing is gonna get hacked every other day... ><;

SummerFox - June 21, 2003 04:01 PM (GMT)
I agree!! let's do it!

Arloth - June 22, 2003 03:25 AM (GMT)
What program would we use to do the rankings? We'd probably want a PHP script, I don't think CGI would be a good idea, so we'd have to find something here: http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/

The next question is where are we going to host it? Will it have MySQL on it? Most ranking/questionaire systems use MySQL to do the dirty work. Then you have to consider how many people are going to be visiting the page and how much bandwidth that'll require.

Yeah, just alot of things to think about. We should start with what program to use however.

did i mention that Keenspace really sucks?

CrimsonBlaze - June 22, 2003 04:46 AM (GMT)
uh, ok, i'm not much of a computer expert in making sites and stuff so i won't be much help
uh, i guess we should have MySQL and i have no idea what program to use
and yes, keenspace does suck 'cause a lot of webcomics i read use keenspace and sometimes keenspace is down so i can't read the webcomics which is annoying >.<

YoruMitsukai - June 22, 2003 06:14 PM (GMT)
I don't know much about this either, but I think we'd need PHP scripts too? o.0; Atleast I've heard of the both of them... As for people visiting the page, you saw how before Utukki had like, 8000 votes so it's probably going to have to accomadate atleast twice that? I'll guess I'll go look into some stuff in a minute here...

YoruMitsukai - June 23, 2003 09:38 AM (GMT)
(I hate to post after myself, but oh well o.0;; )
I just checked the site... It has the top three spots hacked like you all said... Did this happen again or is it the same as before 'cause I never checked back then...

CrimsonBlaze - June 23, 2003 07:05 PM (GMT)
it happened again
'cause before about 5 or 10 of the spots were hacked into and it had some different site posted over and over
this time only the top 3 were hacked into and the person left their e-mail and said that the page had been hacked by them

YoruMitsukai - June 23, 2003 07:08 PM (GMT)
It's probably not their real e-mail...

CrimsonBlaze - June 23, 2003 07:11 PM (GMT)
probably, who'd be dumb enough to leave their real e-mail on a page they hacked?
unless this person was that dumb enough

Mika Saigo - June 24, 2003 10:33 PM (GMT)
gah... now they've just plain shut down the whole manga 99 list. maybe i'll just have to try a new one or something...

YoruMitsukai - June 24, 2003 10:35 PM (GMT)
They did? o.0; Oh well I guess... There's always the Top 33 list.. Not a lot of people vote there I dunno... But I know AG is at the top of that one for quite some time now XD

CrimsonBlaze - June 24, 2003 10:40 PM (GMT)
hmm i haven't checked the rankings page so i didn't know they shut it down
yes, you should probably try a new one, one that doesn't get hacked into so easily

YoruMitsukai - June 25, 2003 11:47 AM (GMT)
I just realized the Top 33 actually resets every week... go figure...
