Description: board error

Strider - July 25, 2003 01:48 PM (GMT)
Unfortunately no. Being low on budget (actually none at all), I can't afford a Vbulletin. For the time being, invisionfree should do.

sometimes,i get really irritated about "a database error",I have too refresh the page a few times before I can get to what i wanted too

can someone fix it?

Stinger - July 25, 2003 02:52 PM (GMT)
you can always get a free board, for example PHPBB. All you have to do is download it, and set it up on your site. The only problem is, does Flatface.net support it? Free, and there wont be any errors.

Well, I certainly would be willing and happy to host any type of message board… there are many free software-like ones, such as phpBB, Invision Power Board, etc.

I, personally, use the ProBoards messageboards, found here.

The idea of changing boards occured to me, too, but switching would probably mean losing all the past posts...

Stinger - July 26, 2003 12:11 AM (GMT)
We could always post them back up :) This would also get rid of all the old, inactive members.
PHPBB is the best bet. Proboards is good, but it lacks the features. PHPBB has some awesome skins too ;)

Rayquaza - July 26, 2003 02:11 PM (GMT)
I used to have an proboards

we could take an iconboard at www.ikonboard.com

I've changed my mind. If Strider is to get a real board, it should be an Invision Power Board. We're already familiar with the conrrols with Invision, so we might as well get one.

The Real One said he'd host it, which would work out perfectly if Strider's host won't support it.

Rayquaza - July 26, 2003 08:48 PM (GMT)
ok,thats cool

Okay, but I am Strider's host, and I do support it :).

You could always get a EZBoard or a forum from ProBoards.

Stinger - August 2, 2003 07:10 PM (GMT)
The errors have seemed to calm down so i guess Invision Free will do. EZ Board and Proboards are very low quality compared to Invision Free. Invision Free is fairly new, so they are now in the stage where they are going to do mass bug fixing, (Getting More Popular and all). We just need to give them some time. It will improve

bunnygirl - August 2, 2003 08:55 PM (GMT)
Strider please dont change the board! i know the error messages are annoying, but all you need to do is copy & paste everything before you post just in case, its really no big deal.

Strider - August 13, 2003 08:52 AM (GMT)
I'm giving it more time. Afterall, the errors do not seem to occur as frequently as they used to be now. Plus, using invisionfree means there is no worry about technical support.

Articunist - August 14, 2003 07:11 AM (GMT)
No! I use to always get that message, but not anymore. It only happens because you kinda flood the place with place.(ahem, rayquaza.....)
