NetBattle is a Pokémon Simulation Program, operating under the GSC rules. It's a
Graphical program, meaning that it shows pictures. (Ooooo!) I don't recommend using the Sound features, even though I myself have never tried them. Yes, it's still under development, so it
could affect your battling. However, I've tried it, and the only tweaking that needs to be done is on your own teams.
Go to
Mana Lugia's site for a description of online battling. The NetBattle link is near the bottom. Click on it to go to the NetBattle tutorial page, written by our very own Mana Lugia. (I think...)
Here's the NetBattle
Download page. Click on the link that says "1-File Download - 12.8 Mb". It's the only install file you'll need. I trust you all know how to use an Installer to install files....
Post here if you have any technical difficulties with the program.

Nobody met that tournament date. Until we get regular matches going, I doubt a tournament can be organized. The Lair is just too small to have enough likely candidates for regular battling.

Netbattle at the moment is significantly larger than mIRC.
However fast you can download 1 megabyte of data, multiply it by 13 to approx the time needed for NB.

Transfer times are usually 10kB per second, for me. That's 100 seconds for a megabyte, and 1300 seconds (~22 minutes) for 13 mB. It depends on your download speed for files...

well the 56K for me transfers at around 3-5 kb/sec, while my cable does it around 10-30kb/sec

Web installer: Was bugged, so they removed it. the 1 file install works better anyways.

Pretty much. The next version eliminates the need for Jet drivers (which is what takes up most of the 13mb). If you're really eager, try... um... microsoft.com?

yeah, no one really knows why it happens, but it will be gone in the next version (as of now, 0.845 doesn't work on this comp, but 0.9.B does)
