This for G/S, or you making an Oldbie team in R/S?

Tenks - January 17, 2003 04:34 AM (GMT)
I think that the team is pretty good, but it can get some improvements. Like put a Shadow Ball on Gengar. Give him a decent move. I would also put a Fire Blast on Houndoom.

dr|X-x-X| - January 18, 2003 11:45 AM (GMT)
Very good

Shadow - February 17, 2003 08:56 AM (GMT)
It could be balnced a bit more. Are you trying to make a dark based team? If so, it is a good one.

doglover27 - April 8, 2004 06:13 PM (GMT)
That is a pretty good team. :cheese:

Reaper - April 9, 2004 12:26 AM (GMT)
Gengar's attack stat isn't that high, so shadowball only benefits from STAB.
However it's Sp. Att stat is quite high (base 130, alakazam's 135)
Maybe this would work:
Hypnosis
Dream eater
Perish song(may want to replace with destiny bond, or explosion in RuSa)/Curse(use together with dream eater and nightmare.)
Shadowball (in case of psychics)/Nightmare(to keep with the sleep theme)
Personally, i would pick curse with nightmare. Use dream eater to recover lost hp from curse.

An alternative moveste:
Confuse ray*
Toxic
Protect*
Mean look*(to keep the poisoned in place)
flamethrower*(for steel types)
Choose 3 of the *s
I would drop mean look if you have a spiker skarmory in your team.
Umbreon could use this moveset too, since it is alot more defensive. The only problem is umbreon cannot deal with steel types effectively.

For vileplume, i suggest this moveset:
Sunnyday
Synthesis(breed)
Solarbeam
Sludge bomb
Very standard, but if it isn't effective, it wouldn't be standard would it?
Sunnyday doubles vileplume's speed in RuSa too.

Houndoom
Weaknesses: Water, Ground, Rock?, Bug, Fighting
Throw in solarbeam to get rid of water ground and rock.
Throw in sunny day to remove solarbeam's charging and increase the power of your fire moves.
Can't seem to be effective against fighting types, unless you can get a flying or psychic hidden power.
Otherwise crunch would be good too.
So you might consider this:
Sunny day
Solarbeam
Flamethrower
Crunch
Rest would be good in RuSa Since houndoom only sleeps for half the length in those games.

Kingdra
Its only weakness is dragon type, so throw in ice beam to deal with them.
Ice beam over return.

Tyranitar,
If you are playing RuSA, replace roar with ariel ace. Otherwise it's good.

Groudon's Fury - April 9, 2004 05:20 AM (GMT)
Good, but not good enough...i've seen better.

It is wise to have a Tyrannitar in your team and a Houndoom.
They are good pokemon.

I thought Houndoom was the best Dark Type pokemon, but lets not forget Tyrannitar is part Dark too.

The best moves for Tyrannitar are:
Hyperbeam, Earthquake, Crunch and sandstorm, fissure, Rockslide...

But not roar, please...

Reaper - April 9, 2004 09:13 AM (GMT)
Roar is ok, especially in GS. If u come up against a machamp, good luck to you.
You may save yourslef using roar though. However in RuSa, just teach him aerial ace and watch fighting pokemon groan in pain as they try to take advantade of your quad weakness.

i have nothing to say. me personally wouldn't use a team of all the same type or based on the same type, i like using variety, for instance: Fire, Water,Grass,Electric
,Flying, and Dragon. or: Fire,Water,Electric,Ground,Steel,Dark. and so on and so forth.

Stinger - April 9, 2004 11:58 PM (GMT)
Seriously.... This thread is so old that niether Sapphire or Ruby were out when it was started. Lock.

Groudon's Fury - April 10, 2004 02:23 AM (GMT)
he loves dark types...

what can we do aboutit?

In the words of GSC's fourth elite four: "I like your style, you use the poekmon you like most"...and I do that exactly, we play the game to because we like it and if you like strong poekmon, go ahead, if you like pokemon of one type, go ahead, and so on...

I like using variety too, I choose my favorite of every type: Electric Ampharos, Ground Tyrannitar/Groudon, Grass Sceptile, Water Gyarados...I would love to have an ampharos and tyrannitar in RUSA...

Games are meant to be enjoyed, nd you aren't pressed to use certain pokemon, y'know, if you choose a torchic as your starter, that's great, make it level 20 before you battle roxanne...

but that's just my opinion...

Erraro - April 10, 2004 02:55 AM (GMT)
The games are all about customisation, true, but the sign of a skilled trainer is balance.

Groudon's Fury - April 10, 2004 10:36 PM (GMT)
wisely said Erraro.
