Title: Pokemon training tips...
menamix - July 30, 2004 12:43 AM (GMT)
I've been playing pokemon for quite a few years and I've had a few questions in the back of my mind about training pokemon...
1. Pokemon who you trade to friends gain extra exp, but do these pokemon become weaker than if they stayed with their original trainers?
2. Does training a pokemon solely with rare candy via the MissingNo glitch in R/B
or the cloning glitch in G/S make a pokemon weaker than training traditionally?
3. When is the best time to evolve a pokemon via stones or trading to get the strongest pokemon statistically, I mean if learning moves are irrelevant,
eg. when would be the best time to evolve Pikachu into Raichu?
4. Does it matter when you use Drugstore items (Calcium, Iron, Carbos, ect.), or should you level them up to 100 to get the full effect.
5. It's best to get your pokemon at the lowest level possible...right?

yes if ur pokemon has extra exp from a trade and its not getting enough 'kills' (15-20) per lvl, then its stats will be lower
rare candy doesnt give u less stats it just puts the stats randomly unless you trained it to a very high level. for example my kyogre has a repeating pattern of getting 5 to sp attack to 4 alternatively at its 90s. a rare candy wud be very useful then becuase the path is already set and i know ill get what i want...sp attack. but if u didnt train it much yet it will randomly give stats to stuff u probly dont want, for my instance attack. so rare candies are good for high lvl pkmn also cuz the exp is much and much more os its worth it. it still counts like training. so just remember its not how much stats but where the stats will go.
the later the better for evolving. but sometimes the stats can be way different. like if u evolve a pikachu at lvl 100 its gonna be super fast, yet relatively weak in defenses. a raichu from lvl 50 wud have more defenses but sacrifice speed. so the stats wud be moved around a bit. its really your choice.
drugs are GOOD for you. even tho ppl say it doesnt make a difference, it does when u load a pkmn with 10 of the ideal stat (for kyogre, sp attack) you can only do this before you trained the pokmn well (it doesnt work at lvl 100) so take advantage of it early on. its basically raising the rate that your stats grow (you need alot to notice) so it will be much stronger at lvl 100. theres always limits, and after you cant take in drugs, u gotta train.
yes its best to get the pkmn at the lowest lvl cuz theres all these factors like drugs and if you trained the pkmn with enough enemies per level. but usually its more than the standard requirements to meet a wild pkmn of higher level.

Kyogongrougre and I have conflicting opinions about how those stat junk works.
1. Pokemon don't get weaker unless the person you trade to is a complete slouch and just leaves it in the PC :D
2. Actually I don't know all the details concerning Missingno and all so I don't really know.
3. It doesn't matter when you do. If you want to test this catch a wild Pikachu, save, then give it all the Rare Candies you got, use a Thunderstone, and record the stats. Then restart the game, evolve Pikachu then give it Rare Candies and compare the two. If they match up then I am right, if not then Kyodongrougre is.
4. If you ever heard of EVs then you should realize that these expensive items give a Pokemon 10 EVs to a specific stat. When that stat has over 100 EVs then you can no longer use vitamins, but you will have to train against other Pokemon.
5. Actually that doesn't matter. It's just that leveling up a Pokemon against others gives it EVs, which will give its stats a boost. There is a limit however so catching a lower level Pokemon doesn't necessarily mean it's better.

HypeBeamer - August 9, 2004 11:54 PM (GMT)
:D :D :D :D :D You mean you didn't expect anyone remotely un-dorky to read that and actually respond? It's not like I found it on the second to last page or something. I just decided to go rumaging beyond the first page.

okie....it gets anonying tho when old posts are put on the front page
HypeBeamer - August 10, 2004 04:19 AM (GMT)
Well then the old posts will eventually die out if we don't use'em for battle grounds...besides, you never know, the creator of the topic might look back and see no answers...

still new posts are always more interesting unless theyre about old topics already discussed before. u dont want to say this crap that 15 other ppl said before no ones gonna listen
