My brother thinks Japenese Anime is poorly drawn!! I can't believe what i was hearing!!!

i dont seen why he thinks anime is poorly drawn. take Card Captor Sakura for instance...the characters are drawn beautifully. are you sure he said they were poorly drawn, or did he say something more to the effect of him not liking the way they are drawn?

i wouldn't know anything about because i don't have a brother. :lol: or sister... :lol:

anyway i think that he should keep his mouth shut unless he can draw better than that. ;)

the second quote. he doesn't like the way the are drawn AND that they are poorly drawn. i had to argue with him :lol: ! but he is 25! but i still don't see why they are bad! they are better drawn then American cartoons!

actually American cartoons are drawn to be funny. Japanese cartoons are usually anime and meant to be more.....serious, Pokemon is kinda inbetween.

well if he doesnt like the way its drawn, than most likely that will influence what he thinks of the actual drawing.

yup. its a matter of the type of cartoon, not how good or bad they are. i mean theres good and bad things about each.

Good things about American

1. Bright colors
2. Neat, but not so neat that it looks gawdy. usually the cartoons that have a little messier drawings are funnier(Example: Ed, Edd, and Eddy)
3. Reruns are almost never boring.

Bad things about American

1. People tend to use the same jokes over and over again.

Good things about Japanese

1. They usually make jokes that are funny at least once in the show.
2. Great arkwork that makes things more realistic.

2. Storylines tend to get hard to follow if you haven't watched the show from the very beginning.

Well, sure, it's an opinion...I agree with that...but most animés contain life-messages...even pokémon focuses on trust and friendship...maybe he doesn't like morals, and that puts him off the actual art... B)

I'm curious... what types of anime is your brother familiar with? Most anime differ in their styles... For instance, I don't like how CardCaptors is drawn with the mouth so close to the nose. And Yu-Gi-Oh is a perfect example of different anime styles -- everyone's eyes are different!
