Title: The Photography Topic :D
Description: Who likes it? Who does it? :)

Alex - December 5, 2005 05:57 PM (GMT)
Yes, yes. The long-waited (or not) Photography Topic! *w00t*

Soo, what are the opinions around here? Who loves photography? Who doesn't? Who doesn't give a rat's bottom? Who wants to be a professional? Who IS one?

Just share away! Share your snapshots, but also the ones you think are art. :)

I'm pretty serious about Photograhy, and will definitely try to make a career out of it, so I love seeing new stuff from people. *nods*

Let's see, a small quiz for everyone to fill in! Replied by me, I wanna see your answers too. :)

Do you like/love Photography? I LOVE Photography, it's my Passion. ^_^
If so, why? And when did your liking/passion begin? I love Photography because I love capturing life on a still frame. I love how some shots can speak more than an entire book or an hour of speech. I love the way it captures you, and I love walking around the streets and have my photographic eye go "Ooh, that'd make a great shot." Hehe. My passion began last year (yeah, so fresh). I already loved Photography then, but I hadn't DONE it. It's so much different when you do it yourself. *nods* Now I consider myself an amateur with aspirations to professional. ;) I've never taken any course on Photography, so what I know I learned alone. Therefore, I work mostly by instinct (and love doing so)!

What's your favourite type of Photography? (Potraits, Landscapes, Conceptual, Abstract, etc.) Why? I adore portraiture. The way you can capture someone's essence in one single shot is definitely something for me. Also, people are so pretty in so many ways that they don't even imagine. That's why, more specifically, I prefer Spontaneous Potraits.

Do you have your Portfolio online somewhere? If so, let us know! Yes, I sure do. I have my own website, www.martamancelos.com, and then I have an account on deviantART, which you can find if you click here. :)

That's about it, me thinks.
Also, feel free to post some shots you took (regarding the rules of the Forum and the spamming issues, of course, we don't wanna make Scott mad :P) and let us just enjoy them or criticize and comment if you want!

As an example I'll attach a work of mine I really like.

This shot is © Marta Mancelos and is not to be used without my permission, all that stuff. ;]

Well, I really do enjoy photography, don't know if I'd go pro or not..but it is really fun for me! I only have a few pictures that I love..and unfortunately none of them are on this computer..The family that I babysit for have a digital camera, so I take TONS of pictures of the kids! And I'm also the photographer for my 4-h group.

Alex - December 5, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
Heey, I wanna see some of your shots soon :D Don't you have them online somewhere? I wanna seeee! Kiddie shots rawk.

sin - December 5, 2005 06:37 PM (GMT)
Your pics are very nice Alex!

I like photography too, but ain't no pro lol! I just had fun with my digital camera sometimes

tennisrocks - December 5, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
Unfortunately none of my 'good' pics are on a computer, and all the pics I take of the kids are on their family camera, and so I can't have that access to it.. :(

Alex - December 5, 2005 06:44 PM (GMT)
Lol sin I'm no pro either ;) Post some of yours if you want :D I'd like to see them. :)

And tennisrocks, that's too bad :(

This one is very bad quality (I was far and my cam had only x3 zoom) but it is very fun.
I was on a trip visiting Sicilia and here in front of a church. These girls were waiting for someone to shoot a pic of them but this person took a very long time and the girls started to get impatient. I found it funny and I came near their photographer and took a pick quickly :P :P

Alex - December 5, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
Aww, that's a cute one. :D
I love kiddie shots too ^^
Let me see if I can find a cute one...

Haaa here's my sis growling at me xD

carole - December 5, 2005 08:44 PM (GMT)
Sin, your pic is more artistic than you'd expect at first sight, because when you take the middle of the four girls, it is the (almost) exact position of the famous number phi, horizontally :) Artists use it all the time, consciencely or subconsciencely.

I like photography but I don't really do it a lot. Just sometimes when i'm bored I go around the house with my camera lol. And I love looking at pictures... like really good pictures... I can't stop looking at them :)

I took this picture last wednesday at the Coldplay concert, I never expected it so be this good, I'm so proud of it now LOL. It's a little dark... but it WAS dark back then. Just not that dark... but still dark, haha. But it is a little manipulated by the intention of my flash and the spotlight in the back I guess.

Alex - December 5, 2005 09:01 PM (GMT)
That's a really nice shot carole :) And yeah, totally agree with that you said about sin's pic. *nods*

carole - December 5, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
I didn't take it or anything but I really like this picture. The sea and the air are perfect. The surfer makes it extra cool and he doesn't spoil the sight or anything either. He's so close to the front, at the right side, but at the left there's nothing but air and water and you're able to look really far... I love the colors as well, looks like sunset. Nice, me thinks.

(BTW that is my windsurf teacher LOL but don't tell Sharon)

Alex - December 5, 2005 09:15 PM (GMT)
Has some technical flaws there, but overall it's very nice. :)

Here goes a portrait I took of my friend Carla :D

sin - December 5, 2005 11:56 PM (GMT)
carole,
lol for having found a pi in the pic! It was a funny coincidence girls were sorted decreasingly but I didn't think about that :P
Your concert photo is nice! Almost dark but all musicians are enlightened a bit like they invited the rear light to come.. Also we can see Chris giving himself to the song ^_^
The other is nice too, a very close view to the guy who is very focused on the wave . And we have the impression to be part of this wave. (btw I like windsurfing!)[COLOR=gray]

Alex,
nice portrait ^_^ The light, Carla and the angle fit nicely

Alex - December 6, 2005 12:01 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Carla rocks. ;) Thanks sin!

tennisrocks - December 6, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
Hey! I talked to the lady I work for, and she's going to send me some of the pictures I took of the kids, and also 2 I took today of it snowing by the tree. I like them..don't know if you will though :) I'll post them when I get them. :D

Booshie - December 6, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
I wish that I could be a good photographer. I don't think that I have a knack for it. It seems like such a wonderful hobby. *sigh* Maybe I'll try my hand at it. I've had a couple of bad situations in the past though, where I.. *cough* accidentally cut off the top of a head. Haha..

Thanks for posting all the photos! I love looking at them. :flower:

Lloydsgurl - December 6, 2005 04:30 AM (GMT)
I'm not a photographer, but I really love photography.

Do you like/love Photography? I think I like it a lot. Maybe I even like like it.
If so, why? And when did your liking/passion begin? I don't really know why I like it, but it's so much fun to look at. Probably a few years ago.

What's your favourite type of Photography? (Potraits, Landscapes, Conceptual, Abstract, etc.) Why? Um, I really like Ansel Adams, so whatever kind of photography that is.

No online portfolio. Not even an actual one.

Your photos are amazing Alex

Alex - December 6, 2005 08:48 AM (GMT)
tennisrocks: Can't wait to see them :D
Booshie: You should submit some too ;)

Lloydsgurl: Thanks so much sweetie! *

Daphne-au - December 6, 2005 11:34 AM (GMT)
I love photographing, but had no time for all the schooling <_< I like to take pics for others and tho I'm not a pro, they still give the pics I took for them to their newly-knew boyfriend
but for my pics, if it's not because of their awkward skill, then it's me not look nice enough :P

I enjoy watching your pics, full of life. :flower:

this is on our graduation day, kinda natural, uh? coz they didn't know I was taking a pic, :P

Sadhbh - December 6, 2005 12:32 PM (GMT)
I love photography although I'm not that good at it, my dad is a bit of a photographer we were concidering turning our upstairs toilet in to a dark room but we don't have the money.

tennisrocks - December 7, 2005 02:26 AM (GMT)
This is a pic I took, and I really like it, it's of one of my friends from tour...and the leaves were really yellow, but the scanner brightened it.

Daphne-au - December 8, 2005 08:09 AM (GMT)

Sadhbh - December 20, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)

Sadhbh - December 20, 2005 11:16 PM (GMT)
