Kikko - March 14, 2005 09:30 PM (GMT)
Anyone a fan of Plushi, Joubert, Lambiel or Arakawa?

roisin - March 14, 2005 09:58 PM (GMT)

sweetthea05 - March 15, 2005 12:55 AM (GMT)
Brian and Stephane...and Kevin van der parren! plushi is well plushi..im sorry to say though that I have a bias against him because I am an alexei fan at heart. :D

Lloydsgurl - March 15, 2005 02:44 AM (GMT)
I <3 Brian Joubert!!!!!

tennisrocks - March 15, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
I love them all...but personally I perfer Ladies Skating. I like all the american skaters. but I don't really NOT like anyone. Did any of you hear about (1) Tatianna Totmianina (pairs) and her big accident on the ice? I saw it on tv, it was terrible, and (2) Ashley something (american) getting in the car accident that killed her mother right before a tourney? It was so sad!

roisin - March 15, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
just for the record, wee lambiel's favourite sports ppl are venus williams & one jcf :D

Taateli - March 15, 2005 02:48 PM (GMT)
Plushenko is my fav!
I used to skate when I was younger, and since that I´ve loved ice skating.. But lately I havn´t watched it as much as I used to.. But I still like the sport a lot, and try to go skating as often as possible :)

My favourite female-skater is Susanna Pöykiö, since she´s Finnish :D (and we´ve been trained by the same coach :D )

I love alexei too!! Sori but I'm not a fan of Plushi at all. What's been happening to Alexei? i haven't been able to watch him since Salt Lake City bcoz I live in Australia n we hardly get any winter sports over here. Who's been winning the battles, Alexei or Evgeny?

Susie - March 17, 2005 10:21 AM (GMT)
Who doesn't love Plushi?! The man's brilliant!

But Brian's my absolute favourite! <3 <3 Brian!

JC Fan UK - March 17, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
only really watched it for the first time tonight but was very impressed with Joubert and Lambiel, also thought the American called Timothy Gibell (can't quite remember the surname) was a brilliant skater, I loved the way he moved on the ice, pity he finished about 10th

roisin - March 17, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
how did joubert impress u?! he was brutal!!! he totally choked. poor guy :(

lambiel tho  legend legend legend!
he won gold! woo! :D even tho he fluffed a few jumps, his 2 quads were unreal!!!

tennisrocks - March 17, 2005 09:37 PM (GMT)
I love Timothy Goebel! He really is great! And Johnny Weir too, but I think he has a foot injury at the moment. I hoping to get to watch tv coverage tonight, but I might not be able to while I'm babysitting :( It was so crazy, on espn it said that they were showing skating this morning, but instead they were showing some meeting of some sort..it was really weird!

Is he still dating what's her face, that figure skater?

And Jeff Buttle won second??????? I love Jeff!!!!!!!!

Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!

tennisrocks - March 18, 2005 03:40 AM (GMT)
All of the top six are so cute!!! Wow! I was very surprised with how Brian, Johnny, and Evgeny performed. But it was nice to have to new faces on the podium. -_-

Firstly I thought he was very cute, he also had a good first part - I just went with the way they moved over the ice, thats why I liked Goebil so much.

The women's is pretty impressive as well, the American staking at the moment - in pink and currently second is very good.

First time i've seen Goebel and even though he made a few mistake he really was mesmerising skating over the ice. The commentators said he'd been having a few problems but you could still tell that he's world class

Kikko - March 19, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
Plushi's probably the funniest (that sex bomb dance rocks! and that man-woman exhibition's amazing! :D ) but I also love Brian! He's too handsome! :D

JC Fan UK - February 15, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Thought I'd bring this back to the top with the Winter Olympics happening at the moment.

The gold may have already been decided but its still so close for the other 2 members and Brian is still in there

roisin - February 15, 2006 09:59 PM (GMT)
Yay! Figure skating!

I watched it last night, so much fun :) I thought Lambiel kicked ass (but then again I heart him so I may be slightly biased... ;) ). Pity about his missed triple axel tho :( I liked Joubert's programme too. Plushenko...I dunno....like he was great. He'll win gold no doubt but I dunno, I don't think his programme & performance merited such a huge total. I'm not really a fan of this new judging system at all

Did anyone see the pairs competition? Any views on the silver medallists who took a 5 min timeout mid performance? :)

all i can say is OOUUUUUCH!!! That had to hurt A LOT! But i don't get how they won silver.. i mean... they had a major fall..... so shouldn't they have lost a load of points? and having a break in the middle of it?! crazy.... like you said, don't liek the new judging system

for me- Lambiel.... i don't fancy him but i find him mesmerising on the ice.... way and above all the others- ok so maybe he's not as technically perfect as plushy but, man has that guy got charisma, passion and performance, which is always more important to me than technique.... although he has that in spades as well

am i m aking any sense at all?!

I couldn't believe it when I saw her fall. It looked SO painful. Then when she was crying I just felt so badly for her. I was proud of her that she was so brave to continue the performance. The new judging system is interesting --that they were still able to get the silver medal. I'm sure that when the fall happened, they were certain that any medal was out of reach. Overall, I'm happy that they got the silver.

Lloydsgurl - February 16, 2006 07:15 AM (GMT)
My family experienced a collective "Yikes!!!!1!!!11" when she fell. I can't believe she managed to finish the routine, and complete it well at that. What is with the doubles skaters dropping their partners this year? Anyways, congrats to the Russian duo who got gold, they deserved it.

tennisrocks - February 16, 2006 12:39 PM (GMT)
I actually kinda like the new system...

I think the reason they got the silver is because they just lost points for the actual landing..not the whole jump...and so with those lost points, and then a beautiful continuation of the program, they just managed to get the second spot. They really did a great job after the timeout! My mom was crying, I was about to cry, what about you Boo..were you? :D

JCSam - February 16, 2006 08:03 PM (GMT)
I was really pleased they got a medal...So brave of her to continue.

The mens final is going on at the moment...I want Joubert to win, but I think its unlikely with Pluschenko so far ahead. I can dream though...

Then its the ice dancing tomorrow....compulsory dance. Let's all look out for John and Sinead Kerr!! :D

Lloydsgurl - February 17, 2006 05:47 AM (GMT)
Woot!!! Jeff got Bronze!!

Although the men's program seemed to take forever I enjoyed it.

Plushenko - obviously was going to win, and congrats to him. Russia's dominance in men's figure skating continues.
Lambiel - good showing, although not great. But how adorable was he on the podium crying like a baby? The Swiss men are woobies!
Jeff - good job! And is it just me or does he look like an (adorable) elf/fairy?
Brian - what happened? I agree with the commentators that he isn't really an all-around skater (good technical skills, iffy performance skills)
American guys - Evan had a good comeback, the rest were eh

Lloydsgurl - February 17, 2006 05:56 AM (GMT)
I realize it's a double post, but I had to post this pic of Swizerland's newest adorable woobie:

tennisrocks - February 17, 2006 12:25 PM (GMT)
Ahh man! I love Evan! I thought it was incredible how he came back, Matt was good..don't like the pants..Johnny..I just plain don't like you! Brian was interesting...Jeff was cool :D Lambiel was okay..fell down i think, and Plushenko..Olympic Gold..need I say more?

JCSam - February 18, 2006 09:34 PM (GMT)
Those spins of Lambiel's were amazing....I can't believe both he and Joubert fell in the final...*sigh* at least Lambiel got a medal.

It's the original dance part of the ice dancing tomorrow...John and Sinead Kerr are in a pretty good position...11th. These second two parts are by far what I prefer!!

They have some pretty awesome pictures on the Turin site of certain ice skaters...:P

tennisrocks - February 18, 2006 09:37 PM (GMT)
YEah, the first part was just kinda weird..I'd never seen that before :S I might have seen the Kerr's but I can't remember, where are they from again? Belbin and Agosto were in 6th :( I can't wait until the next two!! :D

Almost everyone fell in the mens besides Matt Savioe, Evan, and Plushenko...

JCSam - February 19, 2006 02:26 PM (GMT)
They're from Britain (of course!) Come on, you know I'm pretty patriotic!

Not long now!! :D

Why did they heve to postpone the Super G anyway?? So annoying. I won't get to see it now!!

tennisrocks - February 20, 2006 04:40 PM (GMT)
I saw them!! It was soo cool!! aww I love them now :D I feel so bad for that Canadian lady..I hope she's okay :) I was yelling at her partner through the screen...I was like " PICK HER UP!!!!" but then he finally did, and it was all good ;) I couldn't believe that those three pairs fell down! It was terrible :(

JCSam - February 20, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
Yeah, John and Sinead are amazing....not that I'm biased. I love the whole scottish thing too....makes me proud to be (half!) Scottish!!

Off to watch the last few now....

Lloydsgurl - February 20, 2006 10:59 PM (GMT)
I'm not a big fan of ice dance (pretty much ballroom dancing on ice) but I did watch and was also pretty shocked at the falls. I felt especially bad for Italy and Canada.

Can't wait for the ladies to begin!

Sadhbh - February 20, 2006 11:12 PM (GMT)
I don't really know much about Ice Skating but I love to watch it, and I think that the Russians in the ice dancing were brilliant.

May the greatness continue!

tennisrocks - February 21, 2006 12:36 AM (GMT)
Jennifer...that's kinda funny...Canada and Italy were the only countries that fell...one Canadian pair, and two Italian pairs. :) I unfortunately know how it ends up already :( did really expect to see it as the headline on the website...oh well...I'll still enjoy watching it :)

But didn't other countries fall during another skate? I'm not sure, but there was a marathon of ice dancing on last night. I thought another country (Lithuania?) fell during the original dance. ah, doesn't really matter though.

**spoiler** I'm happy with the winners, they were pretty good. I'm also not a fan of Belbin/Agosto so it doesn't bother me that they didn't win gold.
