Title: Random tennis news
Description: Anything random and tennis-related.
smartie - December 14, 2004 07:35 PM (GMT)
Basically my idea for this thread was any random snippets of tennisy news that aren't really big enough to start a topic of their own for, could go here in a random news thread. (And I'm overusing the word 'random'. LoL)
I read
this article in the Daily Telegraph yesterday.
Roger Federer won the BBC International Sportsperson of the year and Andrew Murray (see my sig) won the Young Sportsperson of the year. Yay for tennis having an apperence.
roisin - December 14, 2004 07:48 PM (GMT)
murray didnt look too happy gettin his award! and feds wasnt actually there, he did a video acceptance thingy. he luked really weird in it. and then they had a video of feds & henhead from houston doin a kindof review of the year.
juanquilover - December 14, 2004 10:45 PM (GMT)

I couldn't decide whether to post the following pic here or in the football thread in the locker room.
Yep, that's Nadal with Fernando Torres. There was this charity football match thing where it was 'Ronaldo and friends' v 'Zidane and friends' and Rafy played.
roisin - December 18, 2004 04:25 PM (GMT)

smartie! cool! thanks for the list of players. :)
And this is a little off topic, because it doesn't include JC, but Tommy, Rafa and Carlos were on the program
Cronicas Marcianas. JC wasn't there, but I'm really not surprised. I knew if they did an appearance he wouldn't go... he didn't go in 2000 either. <_<
Anyway there are 3 videos here:
http://www.cronicasmarcianas.telecinco.es/dn_300.htmIn the Carlos clip he is talking about how happy he was to win, and how he couldn't think in that moment that it happened, etc.
In the Rafa video, Boris who is very gay, tells Rafa that he has an incredible ass! And that he must stand up and show it off. Then he asks if he can touch it! :omg: Finally he says that he is sorry to have to say, but Tommy's ass is the best.
http://www.cronicasmarcianas.telecinco.es/dn_303.htmOn this page the 3rd clip has a really short snipet of Moya in the movie "Torrente." In the first 2 videos, you only see glimpses of the boys.

* thanks to the girls on the
spanishtennis LJ community for the heads up on their appearance.

Hmm... was this interview thing this week? Because apparently JC was at some thing in Oviedo (?) There are some articles and pictures of him and Pat that I'll post later on the blog. I tried to use an online translator but I'm still really confused as to what exactly JC is doing there... I'm guessing some promotional thing.
Anyway, thanks so much for those clips Ana ^_^

roisin~ It's because of JC's personality. I just don't see it as his style to be on a show like that. That program is pure entertainment, not intended to be serious at all... nothing is taboo. Can you imagine Boris telling JC he has a nice ass and to please turn around so everyone can see it?
Marionette - December 22, 2004 01:09 PM (GMT)
Hrmmmmm, it kinda sounds like JC is a party pooper, lol
Boris is the host, right? Muahahahahaha I could try and imagiine boris saying that to JC. JC would be all like "Oh my god.... uhhhhhh.....*goes deep red*"
omg, I just thought of something else Boris could say:
B: Juan Carlos, could you give us a repeat of what you did that night while celebrating the 200 Davis Cup victory??
Hehehehe that's evil. You know what I'm talking about with the DC 00 celebrations, right? LOL!!

Koubek suspended for doping!!!
| QUOTE |
Koubek, who finished 60th in the ATP rankings at the end of the 2004 season, explained that his doctor prescribed him with triamcinolone acétonide - an anti-inflammatory - for a wrist injury just a week before the start of the French Open.
Koubek has accused the Dr Martin Leixnering of negligence after being told that the substance was innocuous and will appeal the ban on the grounds of being 'totally innocent'. |

ferrerofiedx89 - December 22, 2004 10:14 PM (GMT)
i think JC would've been there if he wasn't at that asturiando (spelled totally wrong!) gala thing...i mean, i think he'd just laugh at the others, but he wouldn't be the one doing the stand up, u know...he does have a fun side....no one is always serious, it's wrong for us to say that as if it is fact
anyway! i SO KNEW KOUBEK....this challenger typish guy...couldn't beat JC on a regular basis...glad the truth came out heeheh
carole - December 22, 2004 10:30 PM (GMT)
HAHAHA Koubek, this is unbelievable, very funny though haha
it's kinda sadistic, but it feels good to know that he's being caught and all
like it belongs
n i'm not saying this because he beat jc or something, (actually jc beat him why he was prolly high of all his medications at Wimbledon haha)but you know it's always good to catch the bad guy haha i mean its very unfair so im glad it came out
roisin - December 23, 2004 12:08 PM (GMT)

Juan Carlos Ferrero will open some tennis academys in 2005. The first one will be opened in El Cairo in January, then, in July more "Equelite Academys" will be unveiled in Tunez, Dubai and Jordania ! |
JCF.dutches - December 28, 2004 10:31 PM (GMT)
Tunez, Dubai and Jordania? o_0 Might as well put one in Holland then.
He should have cued me in when moving from tennis to real estate.

oh don't say that...but that's interesting that he wants to open up all these academies....what's wrong with just having one in spain?? well, i'm sure he has his reasons, maybe he wants to help the game of tennis as a whole in creating more places for the tennis fantasies of kids to become a reality. hehe
btw...are all those places in eastern europe or something?

No, that is not eastern europe  I mean Dubai and so on is more like middle east, they are arabian countries. About the reason? I would say -MONEY. He is secured man for his whole life(ok, he was before too,but now his children and children's children etc.) The academy takes money from the people to train there. Do you really think that for example Sharapova trains in his academy just for the beautiful eyes? :omg:
Marionette - December 29, 2004 02:11 PM (GMT)
Hol, I wouldn't say it's just for money. I think in those places, tennis is not very widely played and as Sharon said, hes "creating more places for the tennis fantasies of kids to become a reality"

Sure, that might be a reason too, but Juan Carlso become a businessman to. I didn't critizised him, I think it is good that he thinks about his future.

huh? are we talking about JC's? sorry, i'm kind of slow.
don't mean to gang up on you or anything hol, because i'm sure money plays a part in his expansion, but I just went to the rolex site and their description for JC really supported what I said in my previous post. They really described him well, so i'll just put the whole thing here...ic an't copy and paste cuz it's marcomedia flash player, so i'll just type it.
Juan Carlos Ferrero is known for his blistering speed and relentless athleticism. But what makes him such a remarkable person is his integrity off the court. Professional wins aside, his most meaningful contribution to the sport was the opening, in 2001, of an academy to promote youth tennis in his hometown of Villena, Spain.
The spirit that took Juan Carlos Ferrero to the top of the tennis world also inspires everything else he does.
hol - December 30, 2004 12:13 PM (GMT)
Sure, sure. He helps the kids who has no money to train, but the point that Sharapova or Hardenne trains there makes it more popular. I know that he is nice person and that he makes a lot for the sport, just wanted to point the other aspect too. but JC RULEZ :flower:

juanqui.ferrero - December 30, 2004 03:40 PM (GMT)
He's a 25-years-old belgian guy called Luc Opdelocht, from Limbourg (like Kim). In 2000, he's been elected "Mister Limbourg" !! :P

Geezz..OK, I'm offically sleep deprived now. I could have sworn just then JC has wings growing out of his shoulders. I had to look twice to before noticing the huge building with the weird constuction in the background. Gonna let my brain rest once in a while from now on.
oh and here's a pic of Kim's b/f

hmm...don't really see the cuteness there
