Title: The 10 things I love
Description: since old topics are getting a bit stale

JCF.dutches - November 22, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
Ok, so a dear friend of mine had lost a family member due to illness 2 months ago.
She of course had a hard time coping with every thing. And for mental support I started going with her to therapy sessions that's suppose to help her get through the grieving process. The psychiatrist gave us an assignment to make a listof 10 things that we love/appreciate most, so that we could get happy (knowing that we have/could have them).
Some of the other group participants came up with the most interesting things. Well, it made me a little bit happier. So I just wondered what those 10 things were for you guys.

Booshie - November 22, 2004 11:53 PM (GMT)
Cool idea. :)

1. My faith. My faith is very important to me.

2. My family. Without them I'd be so lonely.

3. I'm thankful for my friends, because they always encourage me. :D

4. I really appreciate my country and I'm proud to be an American.

(okay this is getting harder now!)

5. I really really appreciate modern technology! ;)

6. I'm grateful for the changing seasons...I love them all! But especially Spring and Fall.

7. I am really happy that Chinese food was invented because I couldn't live without it! :P

8. I'm thankful for Christmas and the Christmas season, because it's great to give gifts and feel the Christmas cheer. :magic:

9. I'm grateful for music because it makes life so much more beautiful.

10. And last but not least, I appreciate TENNIS! The brilliance of it and those that play it, and the great entertainment that it is, and the coming together of fans from all over the world. That's what I love :D

Lloydsgurl - November 23, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
Ok, I appreciate/love:

1. God <- the biggie. Seriously, I fear I would go crazy somedays without Him.

2. My family. They keep me together.

3. Friends. I need a good laugh, or I get cranky. They help.

4. My pets. Always there, with unconditional love.

5. Being able to live in a free country, <_< even tho people here have been getting more and more annoying lately

6. Tennis. Everyone needs a hobby, tennis (watching) gives me one.

7. Having Air Conditioning when it's 120F in May.

8. The inventor of modern technology (i.e. the internet, electricity, tv, telephones), something I share with Booshie.

9. Having a home.

10. The inventor of sweetened ice tea. Seriously, I love it. If I don't get at least 2 a day I slow down.

and, I'm going to add an eleventh one, just because I'm really appreciative:

11. My health.

Hope everything is going well with your friend. We've just had a situation, and I know how hard things can be.

tennisrocks - November 23, 2004 06:34 AM (GMT)
well, I am going to take some of yours:)

1. God - For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

2. My family- I would be so lonely and bored without them!

3. Music - Music always makes me feel better, like when I am really tired and grouchy I always sing to help myself feel better. Thanks God for giving me the gift of a voice!

4. Friends - My best friend (out of my family) has almost always been there for me...and I don't know what I'd do without her! Thanks Em!
5. Books!

6. Definently technology! What would I do without it?

7. A home to stay in and a warm bed to sleep in.

8. Food! Had to put that in there!

9. That my family is heathy!

10. The piano - it is another thing to let me get rid of my emotions!

zee - November 23, 2004 01:41 PM (GMT)
heres my list....

1.My Family-Without them i would not be here!!....and even though we fight(a lot!) i still love them more than anything!!

2.God and my belief-Without the big guy i dont think i would have stable factor in my life..

3.My Friends-Even though i have just gone through a huge revolution in terms of the friends i have, i have made new friends and find them to be the nicest people i have ever known!!

4.Music-I listen to music all the time especially when i need to calm down after a fight or when i feel sad...i can relate with the words of a song best at those times..

5.The tennis racket-Without this there would be no tennis and i love tennis!...it cheers me up and i vent my anger by taking it out on the poor little tennis ball!

6.Communication and Transport devices-Without these i would not know what to do!!...i love to travel and keeping in touch with my friends is very important to me!!

7.My life-I am so grateful for the fact that i have a complete family, caring parents and a nice, comfortable home....i have seen all the poverty in this world and i am so grateful that god has not given me a life of slavery or one of pain but for whom he has made me.

8.Nike.. :D -Without them...what the heck would i wear?!?!

9.Love-This is an emotion thats so under-rated and i love the way love feels!!

10.My cook-She makes the most awesome food...both indian and continental!!..yum! :D

Christian - November 23, 2004 03:10 PM (GMT)
nice topic, JCF.Dutches! and what's on your list ^_^ ?

1. music! can't live without it. doesn't matter what kind of music, just love it all :)

2. Daniël de Ridder, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael v/d Vaart, Nicolae Mitea, Bogdan Lobont, Maxwell, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Tomas Rosicky, Raúl, Alessandro del Piero, Cristiano Ronaldo.. just everything about soccer :P

3. doing things with my friends: selling newspapers on the street, playing soccer on the beach, making movies and documentaries, going to a soccer match..

4. tennis! it's cool doing it yourself, and it's even better to watch it. especially when JC's playing, but i don't mind having Safin, Roddick or Nadal on court as well :D

5. Lord of the Rings! the books are great, and the movies aren't bad either.

6. internet, laptop, computer, tv, radio, mp3 player, telephone.. just all the technology stuff.

7. chocolate, i'm eating too much of it every day, but it's just so seductive.. the same with ice cream and lollys, actually.

8. my mountainbike: without it i can't go to school, can't go the the tennis club, can't go to my friends, can't go to the city..

9. shoes :) but only sneekers and skate shoes, they're big and well-fitting :P

10. in imitation of some of you: my health. i'm just realizing how important it is, now so many of my close friends/family are dying: mostly cancer. damn it, i just hate that disease

JCF.dutches - November 23, 2004 04:18 PM (GMT)
Gee wow, I didn’t expect so many of you guys to be religious (now I feel very guilty  , not having the big guy J.C in my top 10). And you guys are so deep and poetic. :D But here are the 10 things I love, in no real particular order.

..Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
These are a fe...
(DOH! no wrong one!!)

OK here they are, simple but pure and true:
- Some free time (to spend with my b/f, friends. And family too I guess, but I’m starting to think that answering the door with: “oh hunnie.. you're back already, so soon?” is saying something..hmm..)

- Good grades (well, makes the long line of my ancestors happy, but whatever, if they’re happy I’m happy. Gosh, I’m such a :halo:)

- Toasted brioche with smoked ham and mayonnaise
- Flowers (..I’m so easy to please)
- Picnics in the park.. with strangers (don't laugh, I really do this. It's fun to see the puzzled look on their faces when I invite them to join ^^. Made a few good friends that way tho. Yeah I'm weird -_- But you should try, it always makes me warm inside meeting new ppl)

- Cats (cat freaks anyone?)
- Snow/X-mas (soooow romantic) ...cheating a bit. I can't choose.
- Coffee (I think it’s my blood type!? Coffee to me is like spinach to Popeye.)
- Church choir (always love church ambiance, not to be mistaken with nunnery or anything like that)
- last but not least…Haagen-Dazs with warm apple pie (..oh god..*drool* )

ack… it pained me to leave this one out: Shoes and handbag (like I need to have more.. ).

I see that my list is rather "original" (read: weird) from the rest. But I didn't have to think long to know what my 10 things are which is a good thing according to the psychiatrist. He said I had the right attitude towards life, because I kept my wishes simple. (well either that or I'm such a simpleton) Easy to please is easy to love ^_^ . After every group session I walked out there wanting to scatter flowers everywhere.

And thanks Lloydsgurl for caring, my friend is doing better each day. It's painfull when something like that happens in your family. But I find it even harder having to see my friends, the ones I love go through such difficult times.

Christian - November 23, 2004 04:26 PM (GMT)
feeling quite guilty as well for not being religious. there are a lot of religious people in my family, but i dunno.. since i was a little child they told me to believe in God, but i don't believe, never did. am far too cheeky and rebellious :)

oh yeah, how could i forget animals on my list?? especially my sweet cat *giving her a cuddle*

>_< Doh! Boy, does my life sux or what. You really have a cook? Or is it cook a.k.a Mom?

I don't have tennis on my list either. :ph43r: And I wanna add ezboard to my list. Forums are my hobby's. (geez, I should have said 20 instead of 10 =P)

carole - November 23, 2004 06:54 PM (GMT)
-My few but yet very good friends. I said GOOD friends. The fact that it are few is my own choice so don't feel sorry for me or so.

-Humour. I laugh all day long. I couldnt ever stop laughing. I laugh with everything. No matter if it's funny or not.

-Music. It's important to me (Kinda "Duh", but still...) (Especially R.E.M. and Novastar. Loads of others as well though.)

-My critical mind. I am trying to develop the most critical mind in the world. I hope it may save myself from the rest of the world one day without changing my personality.

-Men. Great creatures they are.

-The fact that I have the capabilities and am intelligent enough to study anything I want. And I'm not wanting to sound conceited here. I mean, I'm not one and all brains, but I'm glad I can study what I want more or less, it's a big advantage. It's not something very rare or anything, but I think I among many others of us should be greatfull for that.

-Beds. They are the greatest inventions ever. Just comfort in general. The comfort everybody deserves - like a bed and all. (I don't mean a mobile or a camera or so. Cos you could live without that. In fact you just don't need those things. They are usefull though, but... oh you know what I mean.)

-Tennis. It is a nice and beautiful sport and I just like it, like everybody else inhere.

-Films/Books. Stories in general. (And I don't mean soaps. Soaps give me sphincterproblems.)

-Some grown up ppl I admire and who are together building the prototype of what I want to be and what i want top achieve in my life and all. (Yea, I was talking about HT :ph43r: Hahaha. Nono, not just him. But he's one of them.)

Uh that are already 10 things :omg:
But I have to add one more thing that is quite recent but yet very, very welcome.

-The fact that I made "friends" via this forum whom I can chat to any time I like about anything I feel like chatting about.
Thanks for listening as well as for talking :flower:

Agnieszka - November 23, 2004 07:09 PM (GMT)
1. My family - I realise that I need them so much in different difficult moment of my life...

2. My friends - joy is what they bring

3. My boy - I realise he is the only one I need in my life (exept family and close friends), it's difficult to describe how lovely he makes me feel inside...

4. In some way God. I'm not very religious person but I belive in God.

5. Health - a lot of people after only after serious illness realise that health is so important. Today I saw a boy, who has graduated from my school in May and now he has got cancer and he's changed. It's strange when I see a young person with
a lack of hopefulness

6. Coke - real coke with a slice of lemon :)

7. Tennis, snowboarding and softball - sports I love.

8. Watermelon and raspberries

9. That I feel needed.

10. I appreciate living in free country, bacause my grandparents know what does it mean to live during wars.

I see that lots of you don't pick one thing. You have to try and name a specific something. Love or health is one thing but sports, technology and music could be everything. Instead, say soccer, tv or opera or sumthin like that.

well i am quite confuzzled when it comes to religion, and for almost every other aspect in life for that matter, but my sister told me that some smart guy like einstein or someone said that in the end, the appocalypse (can't spell), if/when it does come...if you believed, you'll be saved and if not...you know
so there's nothing that hurts by believing, so that's part of why I know that I should stay with God, even if sometimes i feel so lost and all that other stuff

hee hee...sorry!!

oh about belief ...i believe in God but i dont believe that my faith in him will save me because like i said before....when its time for u to go u gotta go...no one can save u then...and also we are all going to go someday i prefer to accept that fact rather than not believe it...but i really dont want to die young...thats one thing im really afraid of.

I'm a Tv Series freak myself  . Only american or english series tho, I don't like GTST and such. My favorite series atm are Will&Grace, South Park (gotta luv that one) and the classic THE SIMPSONS.

Oeh..Amrum. I had to do research about the Ice Age for geography on that island . Lot’s of German tourist there. Nice landscapes, but looks a lot like Zeeland or Holland tho. The thing I remember most are the lighthouses there.

And about the apocalypse, I hate that aspect of Christianity. I don’t get why the church insist on telling unbelievable stories. To me, that takes away all credibility. Stories about the apocalypse might have converted people in medieval times, but we live in a new era now. I don’t care about how Jesus could turn water into wine and heal the crippled. I believe in God and go to church because I want to live a good life and add value to it by caring for one another, ect. Not because I’m afraid that I would burn all eternity otherwise. You’d be calling yourself religious for all the wrong reasons I think. Then reincarnation appeals more to me. I believe that if I live my life in a good way, God will reward me throughout my life. I don't care much for heaven.
I always watch the church broadcast of Lakewood (Joel Osteen), don’t know if anyone knows it. Sermons like those have more value to me rather than going into stuff in the bible which is not applicable to our daily lives.

I only like American/English series too. I never watch any Dutch series... (GTST <_< )
I like Charmed, the OC, Gilmore Girls and a lot more.

JCF.dutches - November 26, 2004 12:02 PM (GMT)
My evenings are filled with watching series. I always rush home from school to do my coursework so that around 17.30 I can catch the first serie of the evening. And then another one at six and then at 18.45 and keeps going on and on till 23.00. And here my mom thaught that I was just diligent because I go straight to my desk. :halo:

I like Charmed in the old days, when Prue was still alive. The new one Paige doesn't fit in with the rest at all.
But I don't really follow Charmed anymore, the story is getting too far far-fetched. They've ran out of ideas and now take all kinds of myths (eastern and such) and jam them together in one concept. And could Nick Lachey be any worse at acting? (although, he is improving) And I don't want my Chris to die. !!!BRING HIM BACK!!! :D
But love the Gilmores Girls too. I want Jess to come back too..ghehe..he's cute

Amrum is a little island in the north sea! Part of the "Nordfriesischen Insel" (dunno how they r called in english...)
I love that island, although if it is very small. met my best friend there and there are so many nice mermories for me :) U can also relax there perfektly! and windsurfing is great there! Yeah, there is a nice lighthouse, but I think I like the beach and the silence most :) But if there is a party: join it, it´s fun!

I like TV series, too!
i like Charmed :) Chris dies? here in germany that season wasn´t already on tv...
but my favorite is Gilmore Girls :) I´m hanging in front of TV almost every day! Jess was nice, but I really, really liked Tristan!! Logan is ok, too! Which season was emanated (hope it is the right word, looked it up in the dictionary) at your country?

*looks up emanate in dictionary*
The word you were looking for is broadcast  . Germany is way behind on everything. My friends in America always spoil it for me by telling what's gonna come. I've missed alot since my exams, can't possibly keep track with all my series. Don't know which season we're in but in over here Rory is already in college and Jess has gone missing. And the rest is getting all soap-ish for my own liking. I like Tristan too, he looks like.. ..JC..sometimes. But I like Jess more (softspot for bad guys  )

Oh, I just loved him on the show!!! I really didn't like Dean, so borring!! Tristan was like a pre-Jess, but he's doing fine by himself (on One Tree Hill). I don't like the recent seasons of Gilmore Girls, they just aren't the same.

Plus isn't it really awesome that the actor who played Jess and the actress who plays Rory are dating in real life?! It's been like a year, and I still believe they are going strong.

They are?? huh..I didn't know that. NOOO, Jess is mine!! (I don't really know his real name.. but he's MINE). Is he in any new series?

I don't like One Tree Hill, it's Dawson's Creek soap opera all over again. It never stays interesting whenever they get out of high school.

oh about belief ...i believe in God but i dont believe that my faith in him will save me because like i said before....when its time for u to go u gotta go...no one can save  u then...and also we are all going to go someday i prefer to accept that fact rather than not believe it...but i really dont want to die young...thats one thing im really afraid of.

Believing in God isn't about whether you die or not...we all know that we will die someday and there isn't anything we can do about it! You can't be saved from earthly death, but you can be saved from eternal death. God loved us, sinners, so much that He sent His Son to die for us, so we wouldn't have to endure eternal death!

I always watch the church broadcast of Lakewood (Joel Osteen), don’t know if anyone knows it. Sermons like those have more value to me rather than going into stuff in the bible which is not applicable to our daily lives.

What part of the Bible is not applicable to our daily lives? The whole Bible is showing us how to live as God would want us to! For example, the Old Testament, it has guidelines for us, and the New Testament has all the letters to the churches...they are great guidelines for us too! God used all of the writers of the Bible to show us His ways, and teach us more about Him. And the New Testament has the promise! The promise of a Savior for us...without Jesus Christ we are just sinners, but with Him, we are Gods' children! He loves us so so much. There's a catch-phrase I like...

No Jesus, Know death.
Know Jesus, No death.

With Jesus we don't have to fear death, but instead look toward the end with a hope that surpasses understanding. I will be frank, I do not fear death, but sometimes I am afraid about heaven. What if there really is a heaven? That means I have to live forever! But I don't want to live forever! I have to remind myself that heaven isn't going to be like this earth, it will be beautiful...

Wouldn't it be great if there were no more sickness, disease, arguments, pain, sorrow, and taxes, and if the streets were pure gold, if we could all have our own personal mansions, if there were peace and harmony, if we could all live forever. Wouldn't that be GREAT?!?! Heaven, it's not just a dream.

I am sorry if this offends any of you. But I really felt I needed to say that.

I like the epis when Prue was alive better, but the new epis are pretty cool either!!
About Chris: He's hot :D :D

Yeah I like Jess too! :D
His name is Milo, I don't know his last name... (Vente nog wat...)

The word you were looking for is broadcast laugh.gif . I like Tristan too, he looks like.. unsure.gif ..JC..sometimes. But I like Jess more (softspot for bad guys blushing.gif )

Thx for the word ;) I don´t think Germany is behind, cause I watched almost every episodes which were broadcasted (did I use it right? ;)) in America...
If u tell me which season is broadcasted at ur country I could tell ya what´s gonna happen, if u want to....
I like Jess, too! Of course! But generally I like fair-haired guys more :) And tristan is so hot! And his body....
