PROJECT: Postcards for JC

After a rather heartbreaking year plagued with illness and injuries wouldn't you like to give JC some words of encouragement (and maybe a hug ), tell him that his future is still bright and wish him more luck in 2005?? If so then this is the project for you!

We are collecting postcards from JC fans around the world to be compiled in an album to be presented to him during the 2005 Australian Open. This is the perfect opportunity for all fans to write to JC and show him our support.

--------

SUBMISSIONS:

1. Postcards, cards, letters, poems, artwork etc. Be creative. Just remember that it MUST BE ABLE TO FIT inside a pocket with the dimensions: 4.25in x 6in = approx. 10.7cm x 15.2cm. If it doesn't fit I'll either have to cut it or leave it out entirely.
[NOTE: Pockets are clear on both sides]

2. Mail your submissions in a separate envelope to:

3. DEADLINE: December 18th (Saturday). Don't procrastinate. I must have your cards on this day at the latest! This way I can ship it over to AUS before the Christmas rush and have it there in time for the Australian Open.

4. You can send in 2 submissions if you like, each occupying their own separate pocket.

--------

PLEASE HELP ADVERTISE

Attention all JC fans: Please help spread the word by advertising this little project on other JC forums, mailing lists, messageboards etc. We want to reach as many fans as possible ^_^

--------

Any questions, comments, suggestions? Either post a reply to this thread or email me at nana_ten_hachi@yahoo.com

I'll cooperate with the hugging, you guys just send the cards OK

And yeah Christian, I was just thinking about that. Man, I'm just a poor student..haha but I think it''ll (only) take about 3 stamps. It's 2 for the US so that's what I'm guessin. You could just give it to the post office and let them deal with it. :P

200!! :ph43r:

It would be great if we could fill all of them but I sort of doubt we'll be able to

ferrerofiedx89 - October 15, 2004 11:24 PM (GMT)
wow 200!!! well then maybe we should send in a couple of things haha and maybe someone should post in on that menstennisforum place ( i don't personally go there, but i know some of u do, so maybe that'd be a good place to spread the word)....and i don't know if it doesn't fill up, this is just my suggestion, but maybe u could add just pics of his great moments....like winning RG and things like that...I think it'd mean a lot to him to see that

Yeah that is a good idea! He could see how he was during that wonderful time in which he actually won! I think that he'd appreciate anything we give him...he seems like such a nice guy! And he could put other fans letters in it as well if he wants too.

Lloydsgurl - October 16, 2004 01:32 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the address Nana!!!

I'll get my postcards ready!

Juan will be wowed by the amazing scenery of where I live. Who doesn't want to look at sand and fields??? It's just so amazing to look at......not

I think spreading the word on the blog/website will be a good start...if that's not asking too much...

Where do you come from Llodysgurl? I would like to see a picture of your beautiful country as well. :D

Lloydsgurl - October 16, 2004 02:18 AM (GMT)
I'm sure Juan would love to see pics like these:

Mt. Signal/fields

or how about this:

Field

I've never done this:

Glamis

This is gorgeous:

Dunes

Ok, so maybe where I live isn't that unattractive.
They make pics like those into postcards so I'll send him some of those.

I'm from Venezuela, as you know, I speak spanish, and I also speak english pretty well, I think it be a nice idea to help those fans who want to write to Juan Carlos in spanish, I could help, maybe not all the fans, but I could help translate some of the postcards for him... I'm a really big Juan Carlos' fan and I think this is a great project, I'm sending my postcard, it'll be a litlle expensive for me, but I'll do the effort...
Write me...
Love, Nathalie

Hi Nathalie. Thanks so much for offering to help. Perhaps you could help translate a message that will go on the inside cover of the album. I'll email you. :)

Hey nana, I've been wondering for a while, could we put a letter inside an envelope and that invelop inside the envelope to you.... Ermm, I just realised how confising that sounds...Let me rephrase...

Outside: Envelope to Nana
Inside: Envelope to JC
Inside: Letter to JC

Mrah!! I hope that cleared it up.... Anyway, I was just wondering!!

Lloydsgurl - October 23, 2004 09:23 PM (GMT)
I just thought of something, Nana and Lily

You two are really lucky. Anything we write, you'll read. :D How funny!! You two get to laugh at each of us (or well me) I would love that (to read what everyone writes)

 Enjoy yourselves!!

Sure that's fine Trace just as long as the envelope has those dimensions mentioned and that it's not super thick or anything ^_^

*scratch head* Lucky...? Whilst I can't speak entirely for nana, I personally would not find much enjoyment in reading the contributions of others. Some messages are bound to be personal, and I'm sure that neither nana or I will be skimming what has been written for any purpose other than to filter out any inappropriate material.

We know how much fan messages mean to their writers, and will treat each message/submission as professionally and objectively as possible. :)

Lloydsgurl - October 27, 2004 12:49 AM (GMT)
I was really only refering to my card. I kind of tried to make it seem like I knew Juan by saying if he wanted good carne asada and sweetened iced tea he should come and visit. But it is really more chuckle worthy.

These cards come from fans who love and support him. Of course they shouldn't be laughed at.

I can just picture it . . .

Juan is very elderly, maybe 90. He has just come from a banquet in his honor at his tennis academy, which now has sites all over the world. He takes the award and walks toward his wall of awards. He passes awards celebrating his multiple wins at the Australian, and US Opens. Next he comes across his awards celebrating his numerous wins at Wimbledon and Roland Garros. He then passes other numerous tennis awards, it is here he places his most recent award. But one of these awards makes him stop in his tracks. It isn't even an award. It is simply post cards fans sent to him when he was having no sucess on court. There are at least 90 of them. Just looking at them makes a tear come to his eye. He quickly wipes it away when he hears his grandchild call for him . . .

These cards will stay with Juan.

tennisrocks - October 27, 2004 01:20 AM (GMT)
Oh that is very sweet! I hope that's the case! Oh his little grandchild!! Boy or girl?:P

JCF.dutches - October 27, 2004 01:47 AM (GMT)
oh..Jennifer...for that prospect I'll send him 5 in stead of 1. What a lovely thought you had! That has made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And that's what being his fan is all about, it makes it all worthwhile. :flower:

roisin - October 27, 2004 11:16 AM (GMT)
awh thats so cute! im gonna go n do mine rite now!

carole - October 27, 2004 12:57 PM (GMT)
so what have you guys done/made/chosen?
i made a card myself, i dot painted a part of a pic with lightblue and darblue, and on the left there is a tennis ball, on it i dot painted in white "GOOD LUCK in 2005"
and then on the backside there is the text i still have to write

tennisrocks - October 27, 2004 04:54 PM (GMT)
that sounds really cool! I still have to figure out what I'm doing  Any suggestions?

juanqui.ferrero - October 27, 2004 04:58 PM (GMT)
I think I'll buy a french thing... D'u think it's not enough 4 him ?? Cuz my genius in art isn't... well, I'm sure he would prefer a bought card ! ^_^
