carole - August 16, 2004 06:38 PM (GMT)

i've tried before but i can only manage a geocities
because they are so easy lol
when i see all these sites in your signatures...
i could never do that - too complicated lol

roisin - August 16, 2004 07:17 PM (GMT)

i dont like geocities its weird....i dunno.....

carole - August 16, 2004 07:35 PM (GMT)
LOL GEOCITIES IS EASY

I mean, I can do it... helloh?

but it's so unprofessional... for clumsy oafs, perfect for me!

ferrerofiedx89 - August 16, 2004 07:37 PM (GMT)
Well....I don't really know too much, if any, about making websites....but I told you about my retarded, unfinished, and never will be, xanga website...and well to make those like all nice you need like a whole bunch of codes and crap like htmls or something to create every little aspect of the website and I'm guessing it's something like that for a reg. website....very complicated in my opinion

I didn't like the geocities page builder, I much prefeedr the freewebs one. Plus you don't have the adverts, they only require a little text bar to link to them instead.

Well, I know quite a few of the girls here use Microsoft Frontpage. But if you don't have that and don't want to buy anything like Frontpage or Dreamweaver, then a freehost with a good page builder is what you'd want - unless you'd like to learn html!

If you don't want lots of features on a site, just a blog, tagboard and a few links, blogger.com and livejournal.com might be more up your street. I know you can download different layouts for blogger at places like blogskins.com.

roisin - August 16, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
oooh loads of links 2 get me started! thanx very much!

a site im thinkin bout making is 1 4 my mate igor, so i reckon i'll try the freewebs one!

carole - August 16, 2004 09:42 PM (GMT)
you go girl! :P

oh I once had a website, the famous geocities with only 1 visitor, and i found the link back,
oh god :'')
a while after i made this website i decided it was silly so i changed it a bit
it's even more ridiculous now roflol :')
maybe, maybe, maybe you can have the link, but you'll have to be realllllllly nice to me "yes carole ofcours whatever you want carole" :')

so if you ever get the link...
enter on own responsibility B)

If you need any help at all, Roisin, I'd be more than happy to oblige since I love making websites.

You might want to consider starting small with, say, a fanlisting with quite a lot of extras and building it up more as you become more experienced. There are a few sites there that are both fansites and fanlistings. ^_^

Just a note, if you find that you can't host enough pictures on a free webhosting site, go to photobucket for some more space - they have an albums option and allow direct linking!

miztreated - August 17, 2004 06:22 AM (GMT)
I'm one of those Frontpage people, and I find that it works quite well for me. I'm pretty sure it's quite easy to get your hands on a copy of Frontpage, whether you pay for it legitimately, or whether you download it, but I will say no more about downloading Frontpage. No more. Ignore all that^^

Go for Freewebs. Much easier in my opinion. And when it comes down to it, it's much easier to get a host and start operating on an actual site rather than a free hosting one. But since right now, you're doing it to show the TFL.org people, you might as well just go for Freewebs and then search for a host. But hey, you could even host your fanlisting on Freewebs. I did that for awhile, but then I found a host. But I'm babbling again, so I'll just shut it.

roisin - August 17, 2004 07:12 AM (GMT)
ah mandie i tried to get frontpage on d net but id have 2 pay 4 it n cos im a huge scab, im not payin 4 it!

thanx v much! u mite regret saying that when i dont stop askin questions n am a big pain in ur arse.... :P

Marionette - August 17, 2004 09:23 AM (GMT)
LOL, you're not the only scab Roisin!!! :P

I use notepad, lol, but I learnt html from scratch...I was on geocities page builder only a couple of months ago....its a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) builder, and that screws things up sometimes....freewebs sounds good, though I've never used it.

It's kinda like playing an instrument or something, the more you practice, the more you improve!!!

kat - August 17, 2004 09:26 AM (GMT)
There're quite a few HTML editors out there that are freeware, sometimes when you buy those computer magazines it might include one on those disks! Can always try a search on download.com for any suitable freeware.

Actually >> does frontpage express still exist? I remember it was included in my old computer (on Win98) .... it's a lite version of Frontpage and it's pretty good to start off with. (similarly Netscape has Composer?)

roisin - August 17, 2004 06:10 PM (GMT)

Whilst I am far from html literate, I would still offer you my help if I could possibly be of any. :)

Now, perhaps if you could elaborate on what you mean by "all d pics of jc at the top and everyhting" perhaps I could help explain it to you?

roisin - August 18, 2004 12:27 PM (GMT)

sorry thats my brutal description talents shining thru there! i meant sumthing like this....

*scratches head* ...okay you'll have to bear with me here since I'm really not proficient in explaining things...

That graphic banner was made in Adobe Photoshop 5.5. It's a pretty basic mix of various Juan Carlos photos that I've put together using some of the Photoshop blending techniques.

If you have a copy of Adobe Photoshop (or PaintShopPro), just mess around with it for a while and you'll be sure to come up with some great looking graphics. :)
If you need any help with Photoshop, I'd be more than happy to help!

roisin - August 18, 2004 12:42 PM (GMT)
ive checked around my comp n all i have is adobe photoshop album which im pretty sure isnt the same thing but i'll mess about wit it n c wot i can come up wit! thanx Lily!!!! :D

Lily - August 18, 2004 12:53 PM (GMT)
No worries, Roisin! :)
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, it's just that honestly the more you fiddle around with these photo editing programs, the better you'll see your graphics become. There is only so much that tutorials and the like can teach you, the rest is up to you and your unique creativity! ^^

roisin - August 19, 2004 06:19 PM (GMT)

On photobucket it provides you with links to the right codes for if you want to post the image in a forum, the HTML code and the URL. You need to copy the text in the box labelled "tag". Then on your page builder you should have somewhere where it says you can enter HTML. You click that, paste the text from photobucket and press submit!

roisin - August 21, 2004 05:46 PM (GMT)
ok....so do u no how i get thumbnails 4 the pics on my site??

Roisin >> can you tell us a little more about what you're trying to do? so do you mean you want to make your own layouts, instead of using the preset stuff provided by your host..... or set up a blog......? using blogger? :)

roisin - August 27, 2004 04:54 PM (GMT)
yeah sozzle i dont tend 2 do descriptions cos im crap at that! but basically i wanna make my own layout instead of usin d freewebs ones. and im thinkin of makin a blog 2 use in conjunction (big word 4 me i no...:P) with my igor site.

kat - August 28, 2004 06:55 AM (GMT)
hey did you end up finding a html editor program? I know some have mentioned Frontpage, that's one of them. As for the blog, blogger is extremely popular lol - there're heaps of pretty nice templates that you can just pick and choose from in blogger > sorry I'm bad at describing things too! But my favourite site for all things re making sites is http://lissaexplains.com (yeah... it says it's a site for kids, but I love the colours and everything lol...)

roisin - August 28, 2004 09:47 AM (GMT)
ah easily amused eh kat? :P

carole - August 28, 2004 09:55 AM (GMT)

but this site it helps a lot its good to learn html hehe

Lily - August 29, 2004 12:18 AM (GMT)
Roisin - have you thought about 'asking around' for *cough* burnt *cough* copies of software programs? I must say that all of the web publishing and photo editing software programs I currently use are... well, illegitimate.
I acquired them off friends who were really nice to me about it (ie. Scott), since I guess none of us really want to spend $800 for a single program...

roisin - August 29, 2004 08:22 AM (GMT)
