Description: notice something
~Juanqui~Lover~Anne~ - March 15, 2004 07:47 PM (GMT)
Hiya
I change my avatar allot and I know that it can only be 64x64 but now I see Lucy's (nothing against you Lucy) is 80x80 how can that be?
Greetings
miztreated - March 16, 2004 12:21 PM (GMT)
I don't know, but who's Julian Thomas? A singer???
Phillip - March 16, 2004 12:32 PM (GMT)
lucy chose her avatar from the base gallery under her edit avatar settings. i think all of the base gallery avatars are bigger than the allowed size restriction for uploaded avatars.
Scottie_theNerd - March 16, 2004 12:44 PM (GMT)
Correct. Lucy's Avatar is from the Base Gallery, which overrides the avatar limit.

yeah a new dutch singer (something like Chris Martin only very cute and there's something wrong with his arm (lost his underarm) but he still plays piano)
Oh thanx, I didn't get it.... :)
But why can't we do it either (80x80) it's the forum and stuff, still think it's kinda weird :P
Scottie_theNerd - March 17, 2004 06:26 AM (GMT)
Avatars are restricted due to size issues, both on screen and in file size.
Signatures have no limit, but Lily and I restrict them anyway because large files piss off her 56k modem.

Phil! And you said you didn't have any computer knowledge! ;)
...'Tis true about the size restrictions though ~ I really do not want to wait half a day for threads to load and I am sure that I'm not the only one. -_-

i don't i don't! well i do have a little bit more now...! it's because i was mucking around with avatars that's why i know something. one of my friends keeps on going to me, 'do you know html?!' everytime i help him with his diaryland and i'm like no sean, i don't know html but i do know how to work things out by stuffing around. so there you go.
Lily - March 18, 2004 10:52 AM (GMT)
That's v.resourceful of you, Phil! ^_^
Actually I didn't even know what you meant by "base gallery" until Scott explained it to me. *sweatdrop* ...since I also have ZERO html knowledge, I guess I can rely on you and Scott for help!
Scottie_theNerd - March 18, 2004 11:48 AM (GMT)
One should not confuse stating the obvious with computer knowledge =P
Don't worry, I have 20 times as much HTML knowledge as Lily.
...
Which would be zero, in case you missed the joke, or you failed math.

It seems like everything's been going slower latley. Anyone else notice this? Other websites are fine for me but this one just seems slow.
Scottie_theNerd - March 19, 2004 06:38 AM (GMT)
I haven't noticed much difference myself.
But I'm on broadband, if that means anything.
Lalli - March 26, 2004 11:52 AM (GMT)
Yes, it's being a bit shade slow compared to what it used to be.

:o Neither of you know any html?? **falls off chair** Now I feel like a computer geek.
Lily, I'm now even more impressed by the layout etc. of jc-ferrero.com! That you can do all that without using any html!! ^_^

Thanks Ruth! LoL ...well I have never had the patience to learn HTML, so I use Microsoft Frontpage XP. The site is contructed with HTML as well as DHTML and Javascript. But I do not "know" much about them as such. ^_^
~ I take it that you know HTML then??
Scottie_theNerd - March 28, 2004 02:55 AM (GMT)
smartie:
I'm just kidding. I do know a bit of HTML, but like Lily, I prefer using FrontPage whenever I can. I operate more efficiently that way.

carole - March 28, 2004 07:15 PM (GMT)
using html drives me nuts
smartie - March 28, 2004 11:48 PM (GMT)
Is this Frontpage free? I don't have it, or anything like it, on my computer, so I get by with html. I'm learning all the time.
(A good site is HTML goodies - if anyone's ever interested in learning ;)) I've just created my first fanlisting
(see my signature) from scratch just using html and I feel oh-so-proud!! :P
Scottie_theNerd - March 29, 2004 07:39 AM (GMT)
Microsoft FrontPage comes with Microsoft Office.
Lily - March 29, 2004 08:35 PM (GMT)
*claps* well done Ruth! It's fantastic that you can do that using only HTML! :)

Scottie_theNerd - March 30, 2004 07:27 AM (GMT)
Spiffy, although keep in mind Lily has no experience of HTML. My former Lord of the Mods project was coded entirely in HTML through Notepad, since Geocities has an attitude problem with FrontPage.
banana - March 31, 2004 05:29 PM (GMT)
Lily- So you do all your sites using just FrontPage?? hmm, interesting. If I could figure out how to use it, it would save me a lot of time coding. Are you using style sheets though??
Scottie- I thought you, at least, would have some HTML knowldege... :P
smartie- HTML goodies is excellent. Learned a lot of the HTML I know through that site. You should be very proud of doing the code yourself!! I've done all my sites in notepad too. I didn't have FrontPage till just recently, but I haven't quite figured out how to use if efficiently yet.
You should visit this website and join the list:

Ana ~ OMG you have no idea how EASY it is to build sites in Frontpage! ^_^ ...granted, once you start messing around with a combination of tables (*ugh*) and iframes, things start to get a little messy, but with your HTML background, I'm sure that you'll do fine! =D
~ oOh and no, I'm not using style sheets right now ~ I have thought about it, but that would require a revamping of all the pages, so I think I'll just stick with what I've got for now ...until I have the time (and patience!) to rebuild JCFO.
kat - April 6, 2004 05:21 AM (GMT)
*yes I'm bored so I'm reading threads from all sorts of places!*
stylesheets are god-send Lily.... and JCFO looks WONDERFUL - must say you have great FP skills!!! I got annoyed with it and got rid of it! (hmm maybe it was because I was using FP 98!!! <<- which generates A LOT of crap codes!)
banana - April 7, 2004 03:16 PM (GMT)
kat~ you are so right. I'd be lost without style sheets.
Lily~ LOL, I don't think it's that easy... I just think you are really good at it. ^_^
Lily - April 11, 2004 06:44 AM (GMT)
Thanks girls! ...Kat & Ana - I think you both should give Frontpage XP a try!! ^_^
*Esther* - April 17, 2004 12:24 PM (GMT)
when i create a web with Frontpage i always have troubles when uploading it. What can I do to upload it right? where should I go for a free web host?
I'm another one who doesn't have any idea of HTML. However, my brother who's 14 is learning something about it at school, and his friend and him has created a cool website as a proyect.
miztreated - April 17, 2004 12:59 PM (GMT)
hey Esther thats like me!
I'm using
freewebs right now, and it's alright. I can't figure out how to make my tagboard work though....
Scottie_theNerd - April 17, 2004 05:56 PM (GMT)
Esther:
Uploading depends on where you're uploading to. If you're using a free web host like Geocities, Angelfire or Freewebs, you'll probably have to use their own interface to upload pages. If you're using your own server or an ISP server, you'l need to use an FTP program. Sounds complex, but it's not much different from copying files from hard drive to disk.
If you're looking for free webhosts,
FreeWebs is quite popular, as well as
Angelfire and
Tripod.com.
If you want, I can give you some of my own webspace on my ISP, but it isn't much considering how mediocre Australian ISPs are. I've got five accounts I can make using my ISP, and I'm only actively using one of them. On paper, I have 50MB, but they're dividing into five accounts of 10MB each, so if you're not keen on ads or the interface, I could give you one.
miztreated:
You'll need to put the TagBoard in a frame or some kind of table in order to get it to fit into your website, or you could just slap it in some ugly place.

Amanda, I use freewebs too, if you want your tagboard at the side of the page, I'd recommend a table - esp. seeing as you're already using tablulation on your site, so it should just be a case of adding another column. ^_^
If you want, you can use the html I used on
my site as a guide (or you can even replicate it) by going there, then clicking "view" -> "source". If that baffles you too much I can write you a quick template, if you still haven't found a solution. -_-
miztreated - April 18, 2004 03:52 AM (GMT)
Thx Scottie and Ruth!!! I'll look into it...
miztreated - April 19, 2004 06:47 AM (GMT)
Hmm......I tried that guys....but it still comes up with a "this form is inoperational". Do you have any idea why? Sorry for the trouble! :P
Scottie_theNerd - April 19, 2004 08:36 AM (GMT)
Could you tell us what you've tried?
smartie - April 19, 2004 10:49 PM (GMT)
Well, I compared the html and java stuff of your tagboard, with that of mine. I found some slight differences, but I don't know how significant they are (java and such like is out of my league). You could compare with
my old tagboard. I posted the html there too. If all else fails, you could try copying the code (it's unchanged from the html they give you) and changing where it says "miss-smartie" to your board name...-_-
miztreated - April 20, 2004 06:32 AM (GMT)
I basically transferred the code given into my index page......and changed the font and stuff...but I'll give it one more try (thx Ruth for the tip!)
EDIT - Oooooh....weird......it doesn't have the "This form is inoperational" anymore, and it posts, but now when I tag something, it pops up in a different window instead....and the tag-board window remains blank..
EDIT AGAIN - Okay, the tag-board window isn't blank anymore, but only when you right click on it, and refresh it, does the messages show up. and the new window still pops up with the posted message
EDIT AGAIN AGAIN - It works now!!! Yes!!! Thx heaps guys!!
