I notice that a lot of people have pictures in their avatars that were reduced in size because they were too big to fit.

I find that the board's "fit to scale" feature doesn't do that great a job of reducing, and picture quality suffers as a result.

So if anyone would like me to manually reduce their avatar's size to the required dimensions (64x64 pixels), post the full pictures here! I'll be glad to re-fit them for you. B)
If your pic was reduced a lot, an improvement in visibility is almost guaranteed!

If you could please, please shrink these down to a little over 100 pixels tall that would be really nice. The only picture editing program I have is a really old version of Paint and I can't make them smaller while still having the same scale, and Scotty said I have to make them shorter. It's ok if you don't want to though, I'll understand.

-First, I open the attachment and save it to my hard drive.
-Then I open the image in Photoshop.
-Edit: Image size, then set the dimensions I want in pixels (making sure that it keeps the proportions the same.) For avatars, the longest side has to be max 64 pixels. mackenzie just asked me for a 100-pixel-high for a sig.
-I use a filter to sharpen. I use "sharpen" or "sharpen more", depending on the case. (Sometimes sharpening too much makes too much contrast and makes the pic look over-exposed.)
-Then I upload the new pic for everyone to enjoy! :D

If you could scale this pic down so it is around 100 pixels tall and I can use it in a signature that would be great! Or if you know how to do it in Paint you can just tell me. I guess you can completley ignore me too, if that's what you want. :D

No, Paint can't really do it that well since it only works with percentages.
Plus, its reduction system can't refine the reduced image like I can, so it would get blurry.
You can do it if you have Photoshop.

PsionicDude, could you reduce this picture its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB?

I'll have a shot at this. Being the untrained rookie that I am, I see no visual difference, but I'll trust PsionicDude's knowledge...

Making pictures small enough to be the thing on the side beneath our names and still having the images clear. Or just getting them smaller in my case, because I don't have a program that can do it.
