cat - June 29, 2007 05:58 PM (GMT)
He won 3-6 6-3 6-3 7-6 (7/4)! The best match I've seen! :D
I hope that he continues to play just like this!
Vamos! Next Tipsarevic!

ferrerofan_laurie - June 29, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)

My goodness I haven't been on here in AGES but I watched Juanqui's match yesterday was just so ispired by it that i thought I'd pay a visit! What a match! That 2nd and 3rd set.... awesome. He literally had 6 services held to LOVE against Blake.... and, afterwards, John McEnroe was on the BBC just going on and on about how brilliantly Juanqui had played.... who's up for a Juanqui/Rafa final?!!! ;)

I can't believe John McEnroe said that! I just hope he reaches far in Wimbledon. If he continues to play like this he can reach the finals! :D

Also there is a Juan Carlos interview in Wimbledon's website about yesterday's match.

What a great match and result for JC - managing to get to the 4th round again and hopefully setting up a quarter final match with Federer.

JC didn't play well in the first game, but I saw his 2nd round match against Muller and I could tell from that he was in form and was enjoying his tennis so I had high hopes he'd pull it back against Blake. I also watched the replay of the match yesterday on Interactive and it was even sweeter watching it after I knew the result.

The commentators kept going on about how great JC's serve was and how good his forehand is and how improved his backhand is etc. The point Blake won when the ball went through the net was bizarre and JC's reaction priceless.

JC is again on Court 1 tomorrow and his match is 3rd on so hopefully I'll be back from work in time to see it. I love how they seem to be putting JC on good courts, there's higher seeds on some of the outside courts and JC is on one of the main ones :D

Good luck tomorrow and fingers crossed for a win and a massive upset against Federer in the quarters :P

he's been playing so well, i've been watchin the matches on the internet, today i finally get to watch it on the tv. this his his equal best performance. Tipsaravic hsould be relitavly easy on paper but he has been playing really well too, so might be tough. my fingers are crossed. was so funny john mcenroe has decided the grass is now jc's best surface.

kungpaobenji27 - July 3, 2007 12:10 AM (GMT)
Blake breezed through his first two matches whereas JCF had to deal with some adversity in his first two. I believe that was the difference maker between two players that are pretty even on this surface. Hopefully, JCF can transform into another Grossjean on grass in the latter stages of his career. JC has lost a little firepower, but the lawns seem to suit his strengths strategically, gives his strokes/serves more firepower and reduces the wear/tear on his body.

I think the experience of JCF's hearbreaking loss against Stepanek last year will help him against Tipsarevic. Let's do this!

He won 7-5 6-3 7-6(7-5)!
And he hit 14 aces! He is in the 2nd place in the ace leaders! :o
11 unforced errors! He is doing great, I never expected such a good result on grass! :D
Next Federer!

Next Federer!

:ph43r:  :ph43r:

ferrerofan_laurie - July 3, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
If he keeps to make so less amount of unforced errors and hit so many aces i think he has a good chance to win. Ofcourse it will be difficult but everything can happen

kungpaobenji27 - July 3, 2007 04:46 PM (GMT)
Good news: JCF has proved to be a bigger challenge to the Fed on faster surfaces (2000 US Open, 2003 Madrid, 2005 Wimbledon was a bigger fight than score indicated) opposed to slower stuff like clay and rebound ace.

Bad news: It's still the defending 4-time champ, Roger Feder, on grass lol.

Still, you gotta believe. I do!

carole - July 4, 2007 05:44 PM (GMT)
the good this about this match is:
if he loses, it's cool too. since losing to federer is a 'duh'-situation, nothing bad can come from this match. juan carlos has nothing to lose.

give it your best shot juan carlos ;)

Sadhbh - July 4, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
I#m so lookin forward to the match tomorrow, he has nothing to loose so it should be an interesting match!

cat - July 5, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
The rain...is mean! Juan Carlos was playing good when the rain started!
Now I hope that tomorrow he plays good.
He is the 2nd in the Center Court after Berdych v. Nadal match.

Kristy - July 7, 2007 09:31 AM (GMT)
I thought he played a great match against Roger. It was fantastic when he got the second set. Overall it's been a fabulous tournament hope he can keep it up :D

ferrerofan_laurie - July 9, 2007 08:38 AM (GMT)
he played really well against federer. He moved only one spot in the rankings and is now 17th seeded. Does someone know why he only moved one spot?

Kristy - July 9, 2007 05:31 PM (GMT)
I think it has something to do with the people around him the rankings who also did well at Wimbledon

Sadhbh - July 9, 2007 06:16 PM (GMT)
he seems to be takin a break this week, he was up for Gastaad but he isn't in the draw. he played so well, really happy. i hope that he can keep it up for the ret of the year!!
