Title: Masters Series Monte-Carlo

cat - April 16, 2007 05:05 PM (GMT)
It's been a while since this forum was updated, so I decide to start a topic about Masters Series Monte-Carlo.
Juan Carlos won his first match against Tim Henman 7-5 6-2.
How far can Juan Carlos go in this tournament? Say your opinions.

Kristy - April 16, 2007 05:50 PM (GMT)
I would say take it round by round. If it's Massu he faces next I don't like his chances

ferrerofan_laurie - April 17, 2007 06:02 PM (GMT)
I think he did a good job beating Henman. I mean Henman used to be a very good player in his good days. And well now he face Massu but i don't know him well enough to know how he plays. Can someone tell me?

VAMOOOS, keep it on !!!!

ferrerofan_laurie - April 18, 2007 12:59 PM (GMT)
Ferrero won with 6-2 6-0 this is really well. I really hope he will continue like this.
His next opponent is Gonzalez or Andreev i think they are both very good. Well i only can wait and see. But i'm very positive :D

Sadhbh - April 18, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
So happy he won, such a good scorline, he will be playing Andreev in the next round which is a much better draw than Gonzalez.
Shame the match wasn't on sky sports cause in was on court two, hopefully hes on a different court tomorrow.

Kristy - April 18, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
Yes he's on a better court tomorrow it's Court des Princes third on. I was really surprised by the easiness of this match. I wish him good luck against Andreev :D I agree it's much better than having to face Gonzo

marilyn - April 19, 2007 12:17 AM (GMT)
yay! i'm so glad he won :D

really haven't been keeping up with what's going on, haha...I should get back to studying...bleh.

Kristy - April 19, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)

J. C. FERRERO/I. Andreev
6-3, 6-3

An interview with: JUAN CARLOS FERRERO

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. It's a good win for you against a strong guy, strong player?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Yes, of course. I'm very happy today because since the beginning of the match I felt so good, the ball. I felt so good in the court.
I knew him pretty well, and I knew before the match that I have to play very good tennis to beat him because he's so strong.
He hit the ball so strong, and with his forehand he can beat anybody. So, you know, I'm pretty happy for the win.

Q. Your kind of reaction at the end suggested that it means an awful lot to you to win a match like this.
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: It's a good victory for me for sure, because I was expecting a good win in one of the weeks, and I knew that I played really good in South America in these tournaments, but it was a Masters Series, Monte Carlo.
It's also special for me because I play very good here. So this match means a lot to me. It give me a lot of confidence to play tomorrow.

Q. How do you feel generally about your form at the moment?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I'm good. Last week I didn't play my best in Valencia. Also because I was a little bit sick during the tournament, but this week I'm feeling pretty well since the beginning.
Maybe the first day was the toughest day because Tim, his game is strange on clay. But the other two matches I felt very good, so I think I'm in a good form.

Q. Do you feel confident enough that you can do something major on clay this season?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I don't know. I have to go step by step. But this week I feel so good, and I think the results of the I mean, two months ago in South America I played really good on clay, so I guess, why not this time?

Q. What happens since Cincinnati, the big result and then not a lot of victory?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: After Cincinnati I lost four first round in indoor, but all of them, 6 4 in the third and 7 6 in the first. So I didn't have a lot of luck, but I was playing good.
But always in indoor the matches are very close, so I didn't have a lot of lucky. But anyway, I was expecting to play good in Australia and I didn't.

Q. Why?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I don't know why. You never I was practicing and I was playing good, because I won the Master of Spain against Robredo, against Ferrer. But I went there and I couldn't give my best.
But then I start to play good on clay and, Indian Wells I won two matches.

Q. How would you compare your form from 2002 to now?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: I don't want to compare it any more, because I'm talking about the same. This week I'm playing a good level. I think it's not a lot of difference with the level I was playing today.

Q. Roger was saying that there's a lot of unity in the locker room and a lot of conversations in the locker room about keeping this tournament as one of the major tournaments on the ATP Tour.
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Of course.

Q. You've won it twice and you've been a No. 1 player in the world. How much does it mean to you that this tournament remains one of the major tournaments in tennis?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: It means a lot in the way of negative if they put it out, for sure. Because I felt so great in this tournament. I think it's so beautiful to play here. You can see the crowd every day full, so if they put out this tournament I think it's a big mistake.

Q. Has this whole scenario brought the players closer together. From what you were saying it has unified the players. So something good as come out of it in a sense?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Yes, but anyway we were like this, you know, since I remember. The players in the locker room and everywhere, we been always together. But, in this case, we are more close.

Q. One last question: Maybe if you play Gasquet or Ljubicic?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Against Ljubicic, I play him a lot of times, but against Gasquet I never play against him. He's going to be very motivated to win the match if he wins today.
And Ljubicic, I know him very good. I'm playing good so I have confidence in me, and I have to be focused anyway.

He lost the first set 5-7. I'm seeing the match and Juan Carlos is playing well but sometimes Gasquet does points in times of the match that changes the score. Gasquet serves very well becoming hard to break him. Only when Gasquet does some errors becomes possible to break him.

Kristy - April 20, 2007 06:16 PM (GMT)
HE WON!!!!!!!! It's so fantastic he's in the semis. It was a great match what a comeback from 4-1 down. 57 75 62. :D Vamos against Roger

I saw his comeback and Juan Carlos made a fantastic point! The best point in the whole game. I didn't see the 3rd set because I went to ride horses. When I arrived home, I realised that he won and I'm so happy now! I hope he plays good against Roger and he wins! :)

miss ferrero - April 20, 2007 08:39 PM (GMT)

I was very happy to know that JC won over Gasquet after falling in the first set..

I've watched his match w/ Roger today..and I've always been honest to say that Roger is my top favorite but I really found it hard to decide w/c of them to root..of course I was really sad that JC lost..and I would feel the same if Roger lost...but then one time when they meet again and I'm sure they will, if JC wins then he should make sure he takes home the crown.

JC played well really today... we've been chatting during the match at RF.com and even Roger's fans acknowledged JC's fighting spirit. The score was 6-3 6-4 but JC put a lot of effort there..just sad really he didn't hold up.

I wish him well for the next tour in Barcelona :)

miss ferrero - April 21, 2007 02:14 PM (GMT)
He first played good but they got sunk ....
Well, he didn't play great, but he'll soon get use back playing the top players, just a question of improving confidence and regularity, and then, would rag everything !!!

Sadhbh - April 23, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
I was so hppy to see how well he played over his four matches. Fingers crossed for the next tourny.

miss ferrero - April 24, 2007 07:38 PM (GMT)
