NASCAR's proposed ban on tobacco sponsorships comes as reports are surfacing that Philip Morris' Marlboro brand may be interested in sponsoring a Roger Penske Winston Cup team. There have been persistent reports that Penske is considering a third Cup team, but the team continues to deny those reports.(Winston Salem Journal)(8-5-2003)
I thought NASCAR was going to ban tobacco ?
They are considering it, I think it's their thing to become a more family orientated sport. Then again, that's mean they'd have to ban Budweiser, Smirnoff Ice, Miller Lite and Coors Light too

But, with the exception of the "smokes", the other "sin items" that you mention can advertise on television and in print. B)
