Title: your chance to be a an offline mcs streetteamer!!
¤lucky¤duck¤ - May 30, 2003 03:08 AM (GMT)
listen up guys....shawna just sent out a team e-mail regarding offline street teamers! they r lookin for 2 in every area! this is what shawna had to say:
Ok guys, I told you in the previous e-mail that things were on the move in the street team and I am here to tell you exactly where things stand. As I said in the last e-mail there is now a totally online street team through fanscape in which you can win prizes and do all the fun online stuff, that this street team never really did.
Now for where this street team is going. After talking with the band about it has been decided that they are going to continue with an offline street team. Here is how its going to work:
-We need 2 people in every major metropolitain area, ie Los Angeles, Chicago, New York.
-These two people will have these duties:
-passing out flyers for all local shows in their area.
-getting posters up in local record stores advertising local shows
-Going to local record stores and seeing if MCS is in stock and if not, then requesting the store stock it.
-They will have to provide proof they are doing these things in these forms:
-for flyering they will need to send me photos of them flyering.
-sending me up to date lists of all record stores they have been to putting up posters and checking to make sure mcs is in stock
-In return the street team member will be put on the guest list for all shows in their area.
I know we have a lot of people in most areas, so if you want to do this please e-mail me back telling me why you want to do this and what you have done to promote the band. It might not hurt to send me pictures of things you have done, say you made a shirt or you put stickers on your car or you flyered for a recent local show. Anything you can think of that has helped the band.
So thats where things stand, if you have any questions or comments e-mail (shawna@spoor.org) or im (yahyourepartofit) me.
Shawna
P.S. you guys all rule! And the boys appreciate everything you have done for them!!!This is an awesome opprotunity! So take full advantage of it!! :D

bands are so hard to be in, every band deserves everything they get because they work so hard to get where they are. when you start out it is so hard to get shows. it's even hard enough to just be good enough for people to like you, especially on long island where i live. it's really really hard because a traditional new yorker wont come to a show or if they don't like something they'll make fun of it. that's like 90% of our scene and the new york population. so i give mad props to bands like glassjaw, the reunion show, brand new, taking back sunday, the movielife and all the bands that have come out of long island and new york even. matchbook romance, count the stars, etc. it's late i can't think of more. but i am in a band, and i was in a different band, which had made some very poor decisions and we gave ourselves a very bad reputation. this new band has potential and i hope to get as much as i can. my heart and soul is in the music i play and i just hope that i can get my band signed with all the work that i'm putting into this band. so in otherwords, it just doesn't come to you. you have to work your ass off to get signed and get big. anyway. i figured i'd say that since everyone was talking about being in a band.
xromanceisdeadx - June 3, 2003 05:36 AM (GMT)
i definately will. i don't plan on anyone hearing it until we are good and ready. we're going to write some songs, record them at our drummers house, produce them to the way we think they should be played and when they're amazing, then we go record them at a good studio and send it out to labels and that's when we start playing shows. it's going to be rough, but we want to be as good as we can be before anyone gets bad ideas about us.
xromanceisdeadx - June 3, 2003 07:07 AM (GMT)
mad props to you as well. good luck with that.

yea i'm in a band too, but we're sorta on hiatus because of school but what people tend to forget is that it takes so many sacrifices to get a band going and that you have to put your everything into it. I know that the movielife are one of the hardest working bands around, they tour constantly, and it's just crazy that some people don't realize how hard these guys work. Same thing with glassjaw, they tour as hard as they can and don't even let daryl's illness slow them down. A lot of bands deserve so much more credit than they really get.
good luck with your bands

good luck to all of you with your bands...i am not in a band but i'm trying to learn guitar...anyway i have friends with bands...one of them is pretty young but they are getting their name out there by posting flyers and stuff at their high school...but i have friends in another band who has just started playing their first "real" gigs...like at real venues not just parties...they are so awesome and the audience loves them so hopefully they will go far..and then i know some ppl in this other band who has started to open for bigger name bands...so if you just work hard there is a good chance you will make it...
