Title: My Solution To The Zelda Timeline Problem

Oxnard - June 5, 2003 01:03 AM (GMT)
Just got an idea for a timeline:
Notice how Termina in Majora's Mask is sort of a parallel dimension to Hyrule in OOT? Like a lot of the people look the same?
And notice the intro to WW where it says on a certain island, it's customary to clad boys in green and give them a sword.
I think boys who have potential to be heroes are given the clothes and a sword and shield on Outset Island, then they sail the world looking for adventure. Along the way, they stumble across one of the portals that takes them to an alternate universe, much like the one in Majora's Mask.
So there you have it. In the original world, it's OOT, MM, and WW. In other dimension, it's LTTP and LA. In another it's LoZ and AoL. And another has the Oracles. The origins of the Links in the Oracles and LoZ are never explained. Link just appears out of nowhere and saves Impa in LoZ, and Link just rides up to the castle and accepts the mission from the Triforce in Oracles. However, he does have an uncle in LTTP. Perhaps this uncle was his uncle on Outset, and accepted the ritual of the hero. That, or he just adopted Link.

Naw, this is one of the big questions in video gaming. It's something I've been working on for awhile, myself.

That's a really thoughtful and plausible theory, Ox, and it might be partly true, but there are some things about it that bother me. First of all, no one knows yet exactly where the Link from LA comes from, though I agree that I think it's from LttP. Also, why would all the kids be NAMED Link? Maybe they wear the clothes, but I'm pretty sure that they don't all have the same name; that'd be so confusing! Also, in Oracles, as denoted by the movie at the beginning, I think it's the same Link as OoT/MM since it showed him riding Epona in front of Hyrule Castle.

I haven't beaten WW, MM or Oracles yet, but I have the rest, and in MY opinion I think there's a line of Hylians that stay fairly inbred much like a royal family, and each male child is named Link while each female one is named Zelda (this part is sort of iffy but a lot of facts support its plausibility). Of course not evey Link gets to play hero since the games are hundreds of years apart in some places, but each one is probably trained in the skill of the family. The timeline goes something like:

1st Hero:
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Oracles of Ages/Oracle of Seasons

2nd Hero:
Wind Waker
Four Swords

3rd Hero:
A Link to the Past
Link's Awakening

4th Hero:
The Legend of Zelda

5th Hero:
The Adventure of Link

Do get OoT Sacue, but dosn't was your time getting MM, tis waaay to easy  (OoT seems just like a 3-D verson of LttP)

Huh? I got, and beat, OoT. I've got Oracle of Ages and my step bro has Oracle of Seasons, and I've got MM and WW, but haven't beaten any of them yet.

I HATE MM. It's so...stupid. The whole 3 day thing, and too many minigames, and I hear it's way short and stupid and nothing compared to OoT, which is one of my favorite Zelda's.

I love Majora's Mask. I think the plot is original, although I agree that some of the mini-games are a bit demanding. Like you need absolute perfection to win a heart piece. Or even worse, beat a game 3 days in a row. And do so while the earth shakes on the third day. :drat:
But anyway, to answer Sauce's question on why they're all named Link: That's a very good question. I knew someone would ask this eventually so I thought of an answer.
See, my timeline draws on other works of fiction. For example, my timeline is basically like the TV show called Sliders, about a group of people who explore alternate versions of the Earth. Some versions are very similar; some are very different.
Now for the Link thing, I took that from DBZ. Ironically, the show Sauce and I fought over recently. If you remember from the original Saiyan Saga, Radditz explains to Goku that Saiyan babies are tested for fighter aptitude and placed in classes according to their ability to fight. Perhaps the people on Outset Island have means of testing baby boys for heroic ability. The ones with potential to be heroes are trained in the way of the hero, and given the green clothes, sword, and shield. That also explains why there are males on Outset, who obviously didn't undergo the whole coming of age hero ritual. Perhaps they didn't show enough heroic potential.

Well actually, ironiquly enough.... due to the fact that ive got NO LIFE whatsoever I was watching a tv show on.. VIDEO GAMES the other day and it explained the timeline. Out of all of the male boys in a generation on the island one is named link and is the chosen hero for that generation, this is how link is aty many different life stages in all his games, no parrallel dimensions nada zip zilch ZERO. Althogh that was a first class theory and i give it ten out of ten. But yea chosen one is link basically thats it. ::FIRE::

In Nintendo Power there was interview on the person who thought of the games amd he said that they are all different people that happen to all be named link. yeah so you people are right.

Jace/Edwardo/Sushi - September 29, 2003 11:46 PM (GMT)
Miyamoto says its a different Link in each game, so it could be possible.
