Title: The Death Clue From Ootp
Description: How clever is JKR?
Lysistrata Mayfaire - August 20, 2003 03:18 PM (GMT)
Ok, I tried to put this in spoiler tags, but I couldn't, so if I offend anyone I'm sorry. I think we've all read it though.....
On Harry's first night at Grimmauld Place, the entire house sits down to dinner. In total, 13 of them eat together. According to Trelawney in PoA, when 13 people dine together, the first one to rise is the first to die. No prizes for guessing who rises first here: "Sirius started to rise from his chair."
This is when he and Molly are arguing over what to tell Harry, if anyone is interested in looking it up.
Lys.

I didn't notice that the first time through, but I read about it on another website. Anyone read anything about the death clue that was at the hospital? As they are going up the stairs and reading what the signs say, one of the signs would look like this:
Creature-Induced Injuries
'Dangerous'
Dai Llewellyn Ward
Serious Bites
If you read the first word of each line: Creature Dangerous Dai Serious. But doesn't that sound a lot like Kreacher Dangerous, Die Serious?
I know all the death clues have been discussed at length on the HOL forum, but I thought I would add that one here. Hope that's ok.

Yeah...there's a big topic like that in HoL. It's amazing, isn't it?

Whoa, that's the first time I heard about the 13 dining together. J.K. is a clever one, that's for sure.
In every sentence JKR writes there is a clue or meaning that will be helpful the the future. Sometimes you miss it and later you will find it's significance. Amazing...

I'm not at all convinced by the supposed clue on the sign. There's absolutely no reason why "Dai" would be on a different line to "Dangerous", since his name is "Dangerous" Dai Llewellyn!
The "13 at table" one on the other hand, sounds much more like something JKR would do... :)

I absolutely did not catch on to the 13 at the table thing while reading. I'm gonna check it out again. ------The hospital thing is a hair far fetched to me, but I guess you could hear that if you really stretch your imagination. but, I doubt it was done on purpose.

whoa.. yeah i didnt realise the 13 thing... man... jk's good.
Kai Clearwood - September 1, 2003 06:51 PM (GMT)
wow, that is really really cool...I don't think i would have been able to catch that clue if i were to read the books a million times....
Naomi Tonks - September 2, 2003 03:25 PM (GMT)
wow i hadn't noticed that! i haven't read it through again yet but i'll be looking for that again

Ok the sign says:
Creature-Induced Injuries
'Dangerous'
Dai Llewellyn Ward
Serious Bites
Or look at it like this:
Creature or Kreacher
Dangerous
Dai or die
Serious or Sirius
SO it says.. Kreacher Dangerous Die Sirius
Get it? Also I didn't notice the 13 part..hmm maybe I should look back

That's nifty! I never even thought of counting them, and even if I did, I don't think I would connect it with Trelawny's words. But now we can see that this 'profecy' worked, it makes you wonder, because Harry was the first one to get up in PoA. And there was almost everyone from Hogwarts staff, including Dumbledore. Now, it doesn't take a lot of mathematical skills to see that there is no way Harry can live a long life and still die before everyone else... So maybe it is a very-very big clue for us. :(

I didn't catch either one of those on my own, but I read about them on other places. Also, when Harry first entered Grimmauld Place, it felt like he was entering the house of a dying man, or something like that. It was Sirius's house, and he sorta was dying in a way, being cooped up for so long, he was eager to get out later, which led to his death.
I have this one book called "The Ultimate Unofficial Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter," and it has some rules to keep in mind while reading the books. One of them is, there's no such thing as a coincidence. All the clues in there, Rowling put them in. The hospital thing seems way too big to be a coincidence.
And in response to Annie, about Harry being the first to get up in PoA, that's not necessarily true. Harry and Ron stood up at the same time. Maybe Ron actually started to stand up a fraction of a second before Harry, and Ron'll die.
