Wow!
The best historical book I have ever read. I saw the film years ago, but only recently got around to reading the book.
As per usual, the book was much better, but the film was quite accurate.
Definitely a recommended read, but quite harrowing, even if you're not particularly sensitive. Especially as the story is told from interviews given by survivors of different WW2 concentration camps such as Auchwitz, Belsen and Emelia (Schindler's camp).
I found myself continually questioning myself as to the futility of the war, the brutality of the soldiers, how people survived against overwhelming odds and if I could have made it to the end of the war.
I couldn't recommend this book for younger readers though, sorry.
