Esperanza thought that her life would never be bad and always wonderful. But she was wrong. Her life in mexico on her familys anch was great until her Papa was killed. And a man from the bank wanted Mama to marry him. When she refued he treatened to take the land away they owned away fom them. So Esperanza and Mama are forced to flee. They flee to California and settle in a camp for Mexican farm workers. Her family struggle with financial problems due to the Great Depprassion. What will happen to Mama and Esperanza?
