Contrary to what it sound like it should be, this book isn't actually an autobiography. It is written by Margaret George from the perspective of Henry VIII, who, in case somebody isn't familiar with who he is, was a King of England infamous for setting up the Church of England and having a total of six wives in his lifetime. He describes his whole life up to almost the week of his death in the form of his memoirs, giving a glimpse into his views like no other book about him has done before.
This is one of those books that you (or at least me :) ) will stay up into the wee hours of the morning to keep reading. It's rich with detail and makes you feel as if you're in the middle of the story. I feel I should warn you though, it has some quite strong sexual descriptions in certain parts, so it's not the ideal book for younger readers.
I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but when I'm reading a good book I feel as if drinking a delicious chocolate shake...and Margaret George's book was the yummiest shake I've had in a long time.
:D Happy reading :D

I watched the Showtime special series on Henry VIII last year and I believe the next episodes will come out this winter. Riveting historical character and circumstances! This book sounds great! Prof. Opal

I do love Margaret George's writings. And this book was my favorite as I am quite a fan of this time period (dressing for SCA and such). She is excellent at making me feel for the characters and making it feel like it could actually be an autobiography. :D
