Start Making Lifestyle Changes Now!

If you really want to change your lifestyle, you can.

Don't get overwhelmed--start making changes slowly. Eating
healthfully and getting regular physical activity will only make you
feel better.

Make a brief analysis of your current lifestyle habits. If you're
like most people you should have a long list of things that you
shouldn't be doing and an equally long list of things that you should
be doing.

Pick the easiest item from "the shouldn't do" list and vow to not do
that any more.

Pick the easiest item from "the should do" list and vow to do that
from now on.

Success breeds success. By picking the easiest item you're setting
yourself up to be successful. After a few weeks of persistence and
perseverance your changes should have formed a new habit.

When you're comfortable with the new habits go back to your lists and
pick two new changes.

I don't mean to make light of changing your lifestyle. It's not easy.
But it's not impossible either.

Just remember this:

If you think you can, you're right!
If you think you can't, you're ALSO right!

Start investing in your health. Take control of your food choices,
get physically active and get on the road to a healthful
lifestyle--for a lifetime.

Get started today!

I am finding it so hard to give up bad eating habits. Maybe I am trying to do to much at once.

Yes, it sounds like you should just a mini-goal or set for yourself a new, good habit per week. And then concentrate on that victory and strength until you move on to a new one. :baby:

Maybe the first :baby: I need to take is to change my mindset before I try to change my diet. I am a pessimist, and when I think about food I tend to dwell on the things I should not eat.

My :baby: for this week, focus more on the things I can eat. :focus:

Rainyday.

O.K., let's kick this new beginning off. A lifestyle change means you can eat anything. Nothing is illegal. The concentration however is on portion control and moderation. Try thinking about how acceptable that could be.

What are the foods you believe to be forbidden for you now?

sunnyday - January 6, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
It’s not so much that I think some foods are band, but sometimes I just seem to lose control of my eating. I do better when I stay away from certain foods.

I can’t eat one sweet or one biscuit, but I end up eating the whole lot.

Rainyday.

There are some foods that trigger binges. Years ago in Weight Watchers they were called 'Red Light Foods'. Some of us do better when we avoid those foods. Someday I know God will give you the victory over those foods, Rainyday, but for now it may be best to avoid them.

I used to have a real problem with cereal, peanut butter, and ice cream. I pretty much can now enjoy moderate amount and be satisfied, and not want more. Little by little, my Jeus is changing me. :praise: God! :)

I do agree with that, Rainy and Dave. Trigger foods must be "amputated."

rosie - January 7, 2007 09:01 AM (GMT)
i also agree with dave and candy, i also have trigger foods rainyday, mostly sugary and chocolate, i have tried to keep these foods in my eating plan for years now and have really got no recovery from overeating, i see members of my overeaters anonymous giving these foods up and never overeat again
it speaks for itself. but i keep bringing these foods back and in no time i am of again. for i am never satifisied with one sweet it starts a craving in me and i cant stop
and when i am of these foods i feel great, but then the thought , ah i will just have one biscuit, here we go again, so its the thought i need to break , i only crave these foods when i eat them, but the binge starts in my mind,so for me i need to keep these foods out of my plan of eating, and deal with the thought , by talking to someone, write it down anything to distract you
praying for you sis
love rosie :feed:  :god:

“If you really want to change your lifestyle, you can “

This reminds me that wanting to change, starts in the mind with the will. Am I willing to change my lifestyle and if so, am I will to do whatever it takes to change my lifestyle?

Dave, I really do believe the Lord is hearing and answering our prayers and I really do believe He is doing for me what He is doing for you.

Just a thought Dave, “Little by little, my Jesus is changing me”.
I think this would make a good song title? :amen: ?

Editor, can we get this ‘amputation’ on the health serve or do we have to go private? only :joke:

Rosie, I agree whole heartedly with you. When I stop overeating a feel soooooo much better for it. The next time I struggle with the temptation to overeat I will go the Lord for help and I will also remember you and ask our Father to give you the strength to overcome these bad eating habits.

lots of :ghug:
rainy.

DavEdsel - January 7, 2007 11:15 PM (GMT)
 Rainy, did you know that line is from an old chorus?

Little by little, every day
Little by little, in every way
My Jesus is changing me
Since I've made a turn about face
I've been growing in His grace
My Jesus is changing me

He's changing me
My precious Jesus
I'm not the same person
That I used to be
Sometimes it's slow going
But there's a knowing
That one day perfect I will be

God can and will change us when we choose to focus fully on Him. :)

I know every prayer we have ever uttered for our weight loss is being answered. It is just like the Israelites who wandered in the desert for 40 years before entering the Promise Land---and why---God was testing them. Think about preparing the mind and will as cramming for your exams. Get ready to excel!

rosie - January 10, 2007 09:33 AM (GMT)
yes i will get my victory in gods time not mine
:th: for praying for me rainy
love rosie
