Psalm 149:4
For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.
Of course, what David is saying in our verse today applies to the nation of Israel. We also know that the Lord takes great pleasure in those who know his Son as their personal Lord and savior. In Luke 12:32, he calls us a little flock, which is an endearing term, and goes on to tell us that it is God's good pleasure to give us the kingdom. He was talking to his disciples at this time, and we know they went on to become Christians. In Romans 5:8, Paul tells us that God commanded his love toward us, and that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
In 1st Thessalonians 4:15-18, we have a beautiful picture of the Lord taking pleasure in his people. Paul tells us, For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. This is called the Rapture.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for what you have done for us through your Son the Lord Jesus. Father, we thank you for what is called the rapture, and give you glory and praise for revealing that to Paul to pass on to us. Lord, we ask for the boldness and the humility to share your word with someone this week.
