Hebrews 5:5
So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spake unto him, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee.

All too often, we Christians seem to have a tendency to bring glory to ourselves by the works we do, or the knowledge we have of the Bible. Nicodemus was the Pharisee who came to Jesus by night. He was very knowledgeable when it came to the scriptures. But the more he came to know Jesus, the more he knew he didn't know. All our glory goes to Christ, all we do is to be laid in his feet. We need to be careful for all the knowledge we think we have, because we could end up being an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, while only having a form of knowledge and some truth of law (Romans 2:20).

We see it was God who glorified his son. As God's children, we need to have a zeal for God, but we also need to have it according to knowledge (Romans 10:2). In John 17:1, Jesus himself said for the Father to glorify his son. In John 17:5, Jesus said, And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Being in church, singing worship songs, raising our hands to heaven, maybe even shouting glory to God in the highest, is either mechanical, boring, we're just there, or we truly are glorifying the son of God. Let us be like God, and glorify the Lord Jesus.

Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for your Son. We ask that you would help us to have the proper knowledge to know of him, and to glorify him through your Holy Spirit. Father, we ask for that witnessing spirit, the intensity, the desire, and the love to share, and to live your word. In Jesus' name we ask, amen.
