Matthew 22:37
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
When the Bible speaks of the heart, it doesn't speak of that physical portion of man. It speaks of his innermost being. His deepest thoughts. It speaks of the chamber's of his heart and mind, where his thoughts hide and only God was originally supposed to abide. Do we have a small heart or do we have a big heart? Where are we walking with God? In 1 John 1:6, we're told that if we say we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.
In 2 Kings 23:25, we're taught that Josiah turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might. Matthew 5:8, Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. In Matthew 6:21, Matthew tells us, "Where your treasure is there will your heart be also." Jesus says in
Matthew 11:29, for us to take his yoke upon us, he wants us to learn of him, because he is meek and lowly in heart, and that we can find rest for our souls. Turning to the Lord with all our heart; being pure in heart; knowing where our treasure is, that's where heart is; and being lowly in heart, being humble. These are the qualities, that we as children of God are taught from the Bible.
Heavenly Father, help us to examine our hearts to see if they are right. Help us to walk with an upright heart. Give us the strength to say no to evil and yes to righteousness. In Jesus' name we ask, amen.
