Psalm 61:2
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Verses to remember. "The Rock" (Deuteronomy 32:4,15,18, Psalms 89:26, 1st Corinthians 10:4)

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that you couldn't cry out to God, but you did anyway because you knew you needed him? Or have you ever felt banished by those that you thought were your friends? Or how long have you been going to church after joining, and never really have been accepted into Fellowship? Sometimes facing difficulties like these, are very hurtful and taxing on one's emotional and spiritual welfare. In King David's prayer, he knew God would hear him from wherever he was.

David cried out to God because of the troubles he was having. Some commentaries mention David's cry was because of Absalom or because he was banished from the temple. For King David, both of these were paramount, because of his great love for Absalom, and his burning desire for worship in the temple. We can be sure, that our God is a safe refuge. We can cry out to him from wherever we are. If our hearts are covered with darkness or in great distress we can cry out to him. We know that he will lead us to the rock that is higher than us. Remembering to pray to God, no matter what your mental condition is or where you're at, God is going to hear you.

Gracious Lord who hears our prayers, we give you praise and honor for your wisdom, and love for how you answer. We know Father, you answer yes, no, wait, or maybe. Sometimes it's hard to know if you answer. Sometimes it's hard to know whether you even hear us. But we know through faith, you do. In Psalm 37:9, you tell us that evil doers will be cut off, but those that wait upon the Lord, they will inherit the earth. Help us to cleave to your promises. In Jesus' name we ask, amen.
