Title: Bombing in Beirut
Description: Hariri was killed

Frack - February 15, 2005 04:43 PM (GMT)
Don (DH) woke me up this morning to tell me about the bombing yesterday in Beirut. Hariri (a former prime minister of Lebanon) was killed after he left the Parliment building (we've been in that area) and was heading down the Cornique (road along the coast).

I've checked out the website of The Daily Star (an English language newspaper in Beirut) to find several article. The website is: http://www.dailystar.com.lb/ Please do check out the news there.

This is very important since things have been less stable and with Hariri gone, things could become even more unstable.

Please hold this area in your prayers!

There has also been a concerted effort in the last year to remove any western workers (missionaries), especially Americans and Brits. We saw 32 folks leave in the 6 months we were there, and know of yet another family denied renewal back in September. This is a country with a long history of being open to workers.

Blessings,
Karen in AZ

Very disturbing and yes, I see controversial. Glad you brought it to our attention. As a Christian, I am sadly ignorant of him or current events in Lebanon. :help:

A lady I went to College with is there with her husband. They are missionaries and occasionally I receive an email from them with updates. Please keep them in prayer. Her name is Sally... can't remember his.

One of my colleagues was in Beirut for work and came back a few hours before the explosion. The client for whom he was working has their headquarters right in that downtown area where the attack was, quite scary.

They're having elections in a few months (May I think) so things can get quite bad between now and then.
