Advanced health care technolog now available for animals

CLINTONVILLE -- Advancements in technology are constantly causing improvements in the field of health care -- not only for humans, but for animals as well.

Recently the We Care Animal Hospital began using new diagnostic ultrasound technology to add to the advanced laser technology it also acquired several months before.

"It (ultrasound) can help us provide a much quicker and more accurate diagnosis," said veterinarian Dr. Al Prudum, who has operated the animal hospital since 1995. "The laser surgery can also be faster, controls bleeding, is cleaner and less painful for the animal."

Lasers have been successfully used on humans for more than 30 years. This human experience is proving to be beneficial for pets and their owners.

Prudum said his facility performs about 20 surgeries a week using the laser technology.
