5 easy ways to improve your health

Okay, so we know exercise, eating a balanced diet, not smoking and drinking less are sure fire ways to get fit and improve are health. But for some, that is a lot to take on board at once.

So we have devised 5 easy ways to improve your health, starting now, today.

1. Walk to work
Okay, so you have to drive to work. But instead of driving into the company car park, why not park 10 minutes away from the office. That way you will have walked for an additional 20 minutes today (to and from the office) and elevated your heart rate into a zone which can improve fitness.

2. Eat breakfast
Skipping breakfast means that you will snack on sugary and fatty foods all morning. Eating a hearty breakfast of scrabbled egg on toast or sausage and beans will kick start your day and in the long run save your waist band from expanding over your trousers due to mid morning food cravings.

3. Organise a night out with the boys
Socialising is a key element of stress reduction and limiting the likelihood of depression. Giving yourself a night out will build the bond between you and your mates and allows you time to think about things other than work, your home life and paying the bills.

4. Cut down on one thing today!
Whether you drink, smoke or eat too much, try and have one or two less of one of the aforementioned today and feel proud that you are the master of your vices rather than thinking it's visa versa.

5. Buy a new book
Reading is a great way to unwind and relax. Choose something that you've wanted to read for a long times and make the decision to start reading it this evening. If you enjoy it you'll find that you start to set aside more and more time to finish it. Once it has been read, buy a new book and start again. Continue this cycle over and over until reading and unwinding after work becomes a well established daily ritual.
