Learn how to read the Nutrition Facts chart on processed food labels.
Discuss: Do you read this very important label? Do you consider the nutrients, calorie count and serving size? Have you put down an article you were going to purchase after reading the label? How important is this tool in your life?
I have read labels for years.
I look for the added sugar especially high fructose corn syrup.
As I have said before: It is everywhere.
I have found the more I read labels the less I buy prepared foods.
We buy fresh or frozen foods mostly,
I still buy canned tomato products & green beans.
I will use canned beans and peas ocassionally. I had rather cook dry beans. They are so much better and a bit lower on the GI because of the high temperatures used in the canning process.
I also find myself doing the same as you. I have put back new products in the grocery store after reading the labels. Good for you!
