100 secrets to a long life tip #3

Diet

Have a glass of orange juice or cranberry juice every morning.

Discuss: Does anyone do juicing? Do you find extra benefit from vitamin C or cranberry extract? Do you get these essentials from supplements instead? Does anyone buy OJ with added calcium?

No fruit juice at our house.
No fiber in fruit juice.
The fiber makes the GI index of fruit lower than the GI of fruit juice.
We have oranges, apples, raisins, goji berries, frozen strawberries, frozen blue berries and frozen mixed fruit in our kitchen.
We also take Vitamin C supplements.

For breakfast I had:
1/2 cup old fashion oatmeal (Instant or quick cooking is higher on the GI)
1 cup soy milk
I/4 cup dried goji berries
Sweetened with Stevia.
Good to me and Good for me. :yum:

The fiber and the Vitamin C give the lower digestive track all the help it ever needs.

Make it a great day.

Faye, soubd almost like you are very South of me and can get an abundance of variety of fruits without the hardship on the budget. The only fruit that remains quite affordable is bananas here. Poor excuse for not purchasing, but all my shopping is done with a sales ad and in season prices.

NC. Fresh fruits and vegetables do get expensive at certain times of the year. My answer, Fred likes fruits. We have always purchased fruits when we bought groceries.
Sometimes I pass on the oranges. They will be thick skinned, small and expensive.

Dick just bought sight unseen a 1/2 bushel from a school school raiser. How disappointing the quality was as you described. I guess he has to remember his heart was charitable.

Yes, you have to help the kids, especially when they are selling something you think you can use. So much of it is junk.
We bouoght apples and bananas tonight.

Faye, my daughter lives in FL. Yesterday, for Christmas, she sent us a 21 1/2 pound gift box of fruits!

What a great gift.
I know you will enjoy that gift.
I love those gift boxes of fruit.
It seems thy always put premium pieces in the box.

Yes, I know she spent much more than what is acceptable. That is pure love for she knows what Ohio fruit is like.
