2Co 8:15 Just as it has been written, "The [one who gathered] much did not have too much; and the [one who gathered] little had no lack." [Exod 16:18]
If our weight loss journey is being met with some or much success, this verse has been aptly applied to our new lifestyle eating habits in the second half of the verse. An amazing thing has happened to us. Our once out of control appetite appears to be tamed and domesticated. We now do not heap and pile food upon our plate. We now are satisfied with a more realistic portion. We now can curb our impulses to overeat. And best of all, our body displays our new attitude of a little having no lack.
It is indeed all about moderation, and as we practice it, gradually it becomes us. It is indeed true that one can shrink the appetite. We shudder at the first introduction to that thought or way, but it is possible, doable, and worth the first few weeks it takes to diminish our lustful cravings.
The tummy no longer growls in complaint, the taste buds are not as strong and intense, and the journey is starting to take on delight as we might even be receiving a compliment or two on our appearance, if not our recognizable restraint. This is the way--keep on walking in it!
