Hey everyone...I have been a ranch only gal for the majority of my life, and am trying to expand my horizons. I don't really like italian. Honey mustard is hard to find in a low carb variety and it is a little strong for some salads. I also had been in a salad rut when it came to ingredients. Spinach or lettuce, turkey, tomato, cucumber, some mozzarella and maybe salad peppers have been the extent of my creativity lol. I have been experimenting with other salads and had a wonderful salad the other day with mixed greens, strawberries, cottage cheese and nuts...My sister said it had a vinegrette dressing. So I think well maybe I like those, so I go to Mcdonalds and order the balsamic vinegrette dressing...absolutely hated it...kind of like pickle juice to me lol..I am stumped. How do you make (or buy) a delicate dressing for sweeter salads? I can't imagine putting ranch on strawberries yuck! lol
Wendy
came up with this based on a recipe as well as some good old fashioned experimenting
2 tbsp apple sauce
2 tbsp splenda
a splash (about 2 oz) crystal lite rasberry iced tea
4 oz red wine vinegar
8 oz olive oil.
has a fruity flavor and aside from the smell, not a real strong vinegarry taste:)
