Title: Vampires

^a damn good Godsmack song.

Moving swiftly on the weather as of late spawned a question. If its really cloudy can Vampires go out during the day?

That then begs the question are they merely "alergic" to the dirrect light of the sun or is it more than that, is it the UV rays? In which case even on cloudy days they would have to stay inside. I remember in Blade they tossed out the theory that its UV light/rays since regular lightbulbs and flash lights do not seem to effect them meanwhile UV lights burn them just like the sun. What are your thoughts on this highly important issue of safety? =P

I think it may be UV rays and the general brightness of the sun, so on cloudy days they couldnt really go outside because too many UV rays would be hitting them. but if someone was to make a lightsource as bright as the sun, then it would also kill the Vampires. (why blade uses flashbangs as weapons)

Never more, never more.

How i see it is like this:

Since being a vampire is a supernatural curse, it is the gift of the suns light, that in general in almost every culture, is a symbol of life, that is turned into the direct opposite for the vampires, who are stript from ever to enjoy the sun, being beings of the night and the damned as they are. So how i see it, and how also what i believe to be the best vampire idea from white wolf sees it as well, is that its not the UV light that has the effect, but the mere divine pressnce of the sun, which will go through the rainy clouds even.

(also blade imo is only interesting for its actions scenes.. not its vampire lore)

Good thought STOWA, since holy water, crosses and silver are also Vampire banes...though garlic is still a rather random one. The guy who wrote Dracula/came up with the first real Vampire myths must not've like garlic.

I liked how Dracula 2000 explained why things like silver were Vampire banes, though I hate how they always use the history of one religion (catholocism) to explain it. Of course in a way Vampires like demons were created to even out all holy features of said religion so in that sense it does borrows one idea from another religion (buddha) in that balance is required.

I never considered the bright lights in general thing like flash grenades. I've only seen one Blade and I don't remember if uses them in that movie, though I did catch all of that failed Blade: The Series that did one season of on TV. Hmm would a vampire crumble if they were say fighting inside of a lighthouse and that really bright light hit them? lol
