Title: Adios

Vaskal - April 4, 2008 12:21 PM (GMT)
Well, the past several days have given me a chance to seriously think about my place here on this site. The conclusion I've come to is that it's time for me to move on.

Good luck with the site, hope it all goes well for you folk. If any of you want to keep in touch, my contact info will remain as long as my account here remains. Just look below this post or check my member profile. I'll probably check back a few times over the next few days to see if there are any responses, but after the weekend, it's adieu, farewell and happy trails to you!

BustaMo - April 4, 2008 07:06 PM (GMT)
I know I'll occasionally keep in touch with you over time even though we don't catch up as much as we used to on forums and via AIM since you're now married and I'm about to graduate college. I hope the April Fool's Joke wasn't a push over the edge for you seeing as it was a forum prank, but giving you the resepct of a generous farewell back is the least I can do.

Thanks for your impact on this forum in a time when it seemed less than appealing to be here You're still 'Keeee-drow' to me man.

Relient A - April 4, 2008 07:19 PM (GMT)
Unlike Busta, if the prank is why you're leaving I give no respect whatsoever for your decision to leave and simply say Good Riddance. It was a joke, get over it.

Vespertine - April 4, 2008 07:43 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry to hear that you are going to be leaving. I'll be sad to see you go, I know I was never on much but I always thought your contribution to FFF was brilliant, you always posted quality posts and that will be sorely missed.

I hope that you'll come back from time to time even if it's just to say hi. Like Busta said thank you for the impact you had on the forums!

Durus - April 4, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
I haven't been on here for long so I didn't know you much, but I could tell you were a big contributor to this forum, so you'll be missed.
Sad to see you go, hope you will come back one day.

FFVIICloudS - April 4, 2008 10:16 PM (GMT)
same goes with me with what Durus said, i just came here not to long ago and it always sucks to see someone go...
but good luck with whatever it is that your going to do

TheMissingCloud - April 5, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
Bit late for an April fools joke don't you think Vaskal? (jk)

Well people come and they go, such is way of forums, whether it was because of the forum joke or more important matters in your own life that are keeping you away I wish you good luck. Should you ever have an overabundance of freetime again FFF is always open. Even if you only pop in once every few months to say something like K_D it at least shows that you're still thinking about us.

Lionheart - April 5, 2008 08:14 AM (GMT)
Too bad you're leaving, you made some major contributions to FFF, always knew how to get a boring topic interesting. Well, see ya.

And I hope you're not leaving because of the prank.

Vaskal - April 6, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the kind posts. There are two reasons I'm leaving, and the April Fools joke isn't one of them. That episode merely gave me the time to put things into perspective in my own mind.

The vast majority of members here seem pretty cool. There are countless posts here that have made me laugh, think or just plain enjoy the experience of reading. However, there are so many inside jokes and references to stuff that happened before that I'm on the outside of that it's difficult to feel a part of the community. That's one thing that may be preventing new members from sticking around. It's not a lack of welcoming on the part of the long time members, it's a sense that you're your own group that nobody else coming in later can ever truly be a part of.

The second reason is that there are a few people here who have ruined the open experience a forum should be in my opinion, turning everything into contention rather than friendly discussion or civil debate. The most active staff members seem to encourage immature behavior and engage in it themselves, breaking their own rules more often than upholding them. This means that when people get out of line, nobody steps in to address the issues as neutral third parties. Sides are taken, a war of words ensues and resolution to conflict between members isn't found or even sought. I can handle the fact that some people would turn everything into an argument if there were some semblance of moderation from the staff, but there isn't. When members try to take up the slack, they get chastised for "acting like moderators" when they aren't on the staff, even though those who are supposed to be moderating aren't doing the job and often are adding to the problem. The truth of the matter is, I always felt like no matter what I posted here, a group of people would want to turn it into an argument and the staff would breathe down my neck when I attempted to either clarify my stance or diffuse the situation. The majority of the time, this turned out to be true. Sure, there were times when I let my anger get the best of me and I posted things I shouldn't have, but can you blame a guy for losing patience in an environment like this? Often, it was even a staff member that initiated the arguments, as Reliant A seems to be proving in his post.

That's what I'm leaving behind. I stuck around as long as I did because, as I mentioned earlier, I do like the vast majority of you here. The invitation to keep in touch stands; just use the links below or check my profile. Goodbye and good luck to all of you.

Relient A - April 6, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
You keep spelling Relient wrong.

Stephen Griffiths - April 6, 2008 09:01 PM (GMT)
Relient A stop acting like a cock, you're a moderator, act like one.

Cant say i ever knew you Vaskal, but you put alot of input into the forum, and im mega happy that you stopped here!

Bye and good luck. :pupu:

Relient A - April 6, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
I completely disagree with half of what he is accusing of us, largely due to his overexaggeration of how the staff has treated him specifically, so it is difficult for me to not laugh at the situation... but if it really offends you I apologize and will no longer post in this thread on the matter.

Stephen Griffiths - April 6, 2008 09:23 PM (GMT)
You dont offend me in particular, i just worry that if you act like that it promotes other members of acting like that. I agree with you on the fact that Vaskal is overexaggerating on this matter, and i dont particularly agree with him, but i just dont want another topic to descend into arguements.

And sorry for calling you a cock.

Relient A - April 6, 2008 09:31 PM (GMT)
lol, I Am a cock dude. But yes, I suppose more arguments wouldn't be particularly constructive.

Yojimbo - April 6, 2008 11:55 PM (GMT)
aww, have a nice leave then ;o..not sure if its a prank or not..didn't read the rest of the posts so...lol

Peace, :p

BustaMo - April 7, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
He's gone according to his PM to me earlier today and won't read anything after his last post.
