Wow its been a while since I started a fanfic. The only one I ever finished was Final Fantasy Forum Fanfiction, haven't finished my FFVII one and haven't even started on the Kingdom Hearts one, nor FFFF pt. 2, still don't know if I want to do a part 2 for that lol.
Anyway I was browsing deviantART (a lot of my stories lately start out that way) and a member on there has a fanfic called Devil May Cry: Dante's Inferno. She's a big fan of DMC and Dante's Inferno and I know she wanted to try to merge two, but I dont know if she actually is or will be able to with the current fanfic shes working on now. Being the master of insanity and cross-overs that I am I think I've come up with the perfect way to pull this off as the ending to DMC2 sets me up perfectly for it.
End of DMC2 - Dante enters the demon world, battles Argosax the Chaos; and defeats him.
“Jackpot”
The portal back to the human world has closed during the battle with Argosax sealing Dante in the demon world.
“Looks like I’ll be takin’ the long way home.”
Dante hops onto the motorcycle aptly named Vergil and drives off into the abyss.
“Yeah, let’s go all the way to hell!”
Dante will venture through each of the nine levels, very similar to ones from the book battling his way out of hell. I know Dante usually does stuff solo, but one way I thought of to implement Virgil as the guide would be that the motorcycle Dante receives in DMC2 could perhaps be some sort of special motorcycle that somehow has a bit of his brother Vergil’s personality in it, *DMC4 spoiler*
similar to Nero’s arm from DMC4 *end of spoiler*. I haven’t decided whether or not to make the motorcycle actually communicate with Dante in someway either verbally or telepathically because either way it seems too much like a Legend of Zelda oddball side kick staple, something that is a bit out of place in the DMC world. Of course I’ve still got to come up with a decent explanation for why a part of Vergil is in that cycle to begin with.
Random thoughts/notes:The main problem with this story is hell is where an unimaginable number of demons and demented beasts live. I should think most everyone here hates Sparda and thus Dante as well, which would make this journey totally over the top, considering he would have to battle Satan or some version of him in the endperhaps his son…yeah another good old son vs son battle.
Demons like Angels have no soul and thus no place to go when they “die” thus Dante wont fight an endless wave of respawning demons just because they keep getting reincarnated having died and gone back to hell.
Dante remains relatively indifferent in respect to the humans being tortured in the inferno as they are no concern of his and many which he regards as worse than demons themselves deserve their pain. Dante ignores them and those that are tortured for the most part seem to ignore him as well, partially because they fear him and can sense his demonic presence, despite his human exterior partially because they are too absorbed in their own suffering and visions of the future to focus on the present; though a few familiar humans will no doubt talk to/taunt Dante in his adventure, like Arkham and Arius. Both of which who were once purely human at one time and thus still posses a soul hence their eternal torture.
In the inferno there are great power struggles between the demons and creatures there. Half-breeds are shunned and regarded as inferiors and as such upon fear of the pain of death are not allowed to venture past the City of Dis where only pureblood demons reign.
As far as a title goes I haven't thought of a good one yet. Devil May Cry: Dante's Inferno is already being used. I like Dirge Inferno after the CoF song, but it doesnt really fit with the story much (death of endless flames?) and DMC: Hell 'n' Back/DMC: Hellbound just sounds cheesy. So for now its just DMC: The Inferno.
I also want to see if I can pull off using Rock/Metal song titles as the titles of each of the chapters:
Prologue: Through the Fire and the Flames (DragonForce)
Chapter 1: The Forest Whispers My Name (Cradle of Filth)
Dante rides on the motorcycle as the flames near seemingly infinite, speeds up and goes right through them appearing in a dark ancient forest. “Whooo!” Behind him is the large ring of fire from the battle with Argosax.
So yeah this topic is mostly for me to throw a bunch of ideas out there and get some feedback from some of the other DMC fans out there. I will create another topic for the actual story when I start on it though. In the mean time I'm working on the outline, which is relatively easy use Dante's Inferno for a base and edit it/DMCize it.
