Mine would have to definately by Zidane. He has a tale and the coolest swords ever. Dang straight son.

Zidane would be my choice as well, not often you dont find a main character that makes you laugh as much as this guy.. hes still got some of the best quotes in the game ever:

"oh, soft"

end of discusion ;)... hehe

and personally the swashbuckling type of character is always interesting :)..

Tricky...very tricky...

I had it between Amarant and Zidane. Two of my favorite characters in Final Fantasy IX, but I had to go with the main character here because of all he endures in the game and then the amount he accomplishes with all the pressures of personal life, love, family, and world destruction.

Amarant is one of my favorites in the series because he's the most mis-understood in the game. Sure he may seem like a cold individual who is only out for himself, but he's the kinda guy who just needed a role model in his life like Zidane and no one had ever given him the time of day. I think at the end of the game Amarant finds himself and realizes he's got a better purpose for the future.

GAH this game freezes when i put the second disc in all the time! Except for when i switched it with the first one. I havent gotten it to work for a year. So im gonna try alternating again to get it to work. :P but yeah this is pretty much my alltime favorite FF game.

Shivadiva - October 23, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
sorry to hear about the freeezing issues maybe get the disc cleaned?

this too is my favorite game in the final fantasys

id have to go with beatrix shes strong willed isnt afraid to own up when she has been misled and her loyalty is portrayed really well but not in a dumb sense like rusty =]

Exyle - October 24, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
Hmm well I got it working again (YES) haha. But my favorite is probably still Zidane. Because he remians cool under pressure at all times.

Freya is definitley my favourite, she's tall, awesome and has a cool dress sense.

She's powering on even after her whole civilisation was killed and maimed. She always seems cool under pressure and seems very intellagent which is always important for a character in an RPG.

Plus shes pretty strong and has some pretty good dragon attacks, I mean some can get you in a lot of trouble but she is still one of my strongest characters and I don't really know how she got that way, I must have just used her in all the hard battle because she tends to let me win.

kingtard - October 30, 2007 02:52 AM (GMT)
He reminds me of a pirate...lol, which is basically the coolest...so zidane is also my pic. :]

Vivi for me, Mainly because he has such a dramatic story, he tries to learn who he is, and ends up being one of the most powerful characters on this game. It was close between Amarant aswell cause he's awesome.

TifaValentine_infinity100 - January 17, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)
i loved Vivi! he's just adorable and since he's had such a dramatic, yet sad, past. he's really cute too...how he calls Stiner "Mister" and all. he's like a chibi plush toy or something! xD*hard core Vivi fan*

FFMistress - October 14, 2008 12:47 AM (GMT)
My favorite FF9 characters are:

Kuja
Beatrix
Zidane
Garnet
Freya

Exyle - October 14, 2008 01:37 AM (GMT)
rad im guessing you voted other for kuja?

Al Bhed girl Merin - October 17, 2008 09:05 AM (GMT)
Vivi or Garnet.

Vivi has such a deep story and is probably the character who develops the most in the game.

Garnet is just cute.

The Turk - October 17, 2008 09:18 AM (GMT)
Vivi easily.

He's the deepest character in the game and the emotional core. His tragic story is very sad and you can't help but feel overjoyed for him when he meets the other black mages. He's also has that child-like innocence and sees the world with a sense of wonder that makes you happy but he's also scared a lot too with means you can relate to him. I think he's the most human character in a FF game and he isn't even human either.

I like Beatrix too. She's just badass. Her and Kuja's introduction is sweet and when you fight her she destroys your party so bad. But then you get to fight alongside her and the tables turn. I didn't really buy into her relationship with Stiener though....he's not right for her other than the fact they are both knights.

I may be alone her, but I really liked Zorn and Thorn until they transformed into that monster thing...that wasn't really needed...but they provide good comic relief, which is needed as the game can be quite humorless at times.

lykoleon - October 18, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
I like beatrix a lot. mainly for shallow reasons, she's pretty. garnet comes 2nd because she's pretty too. Zidane is in the bottom of the list because I hate his hairstyle.

Lokkin - October 18, 2008 12:59 PM (GMT)
I chose Vivi, but it was a toss up between him and Beatrix.

Vivi's character is so well developed in FF9, and of course he's the first character you REALLY get to play as(I'm confused whether running around town with Vivi comes first or getting the shit kicked out of you by Baku as Zidane does, but whatever, you play Vivi for longer at the start). He's the coolest little guy ever, and has some extreme power, I mean come on, who did not sit back and just go "Bad, ass," when he lit up Black Waltz No.3?

Beatrix was a close second because of how faithful she is, all the time she was doing wrong, she thought she was doing the right thing, and as soon as she realised, she made steps to correct it and put it right. And she looks like a pirate and has an amazing sword :)

Exyle - October 21, 2008 12:28 PM (GMT)
Yeah you play as Vivi first. And for some reason Vivi DOES seem the most human of all the characters.
Because the developers go the deepest into him forcing out all the different kind of emotions possible and you get to know Vivi better than everyone (maybe not Zidane)

Relient A - October 21, 2008 11:11 PM (GMT)
I still tear up a little at the look in Vivi's eyes when they're ont he airship and the other black mages are being blown away and killed. But that was Disc One, he has many good scenes in the game.

The Turk - October 22, 2008 11:18 AM (GMT)
It's also amazing that all you can see are his two eyes, yet there is more emotion in those eyes that the entire faces of the other characters.

You're right RA that is a great scene there. Poor Vivi.
