Ok, i was thinking about this recently.


How about making a member of the week? judged on things like Helpfulness and posts (quality over quantity) Members of staff could make a poll and update it weekly with who in their opinions are in the running for the title, then members vote on who they think should win it.

They could win a member title with crowns on either side of the name or something, just something small really :)

I think it would members want to post more quality, and more often, and be more helpful to new members :D

Good suggestion, I will talk to it with Busta and Ross. One thing though, it definitely will not be weekly. Most likely, monthly. And the members would have a say in who wins each month.

I'm up for this. I think the biggest determining factor as well should be who brings in more new members as well. ;)

I’m sort of torn between yay or nay……actually to be perfectly honest I’m leaning mostly toward nay for reasons mentioned in the old topic by other members.
A Member of the Month promotes favoritism and can lead to people feeling left out or unappreciated and this can lead to arguments and members leaving. This becomes a bigger problem because the entire forum would be involved in the vote not just the staff members and I seriously doubt that personal feelings and bias could be set aside by everyone to judge this “fairly”. Don’t take that the wrong way though, I think pretty much everyone here is mature enough where we wouldn’t have any problems with a member of the month and stuff like this does function all right out in the corporate real world.

I understand this is just something to do for fun and on the plus side its something to encourage people to post quality content more often and be more friendly and welcoming to new members and in general, but at the same time it creates a challenge and a struggle for status within the forum. As I said I think everyone here is mature enough to not take it personally and not get jealous over it, regardless having a member of the month is a liability so to say and it may only be a matter of time before it becomes a problem. I’d hate to see people start acting like arseholes again and more so ruining the fun for others with a bad attitude.

Sorry but I say no and I think we should take into account the feedback of some other members before making a decision here. I know AzA and BM are both Administrators, but the Admins aren’t always the “be all end all”, no offense to them. I think this is one of those things where a majority of the forum’s members should agree upon it before action is taken, whether the Admins are all for it or not.

I hate to be Mr. Cynicism on the subject, but those are my thoughts. Oh and just because I said no that doesn't mean that I'm going to look down on it and not participate in it. I am fine with one and I can accept it I just don't think its in the best intrest of the forum.

I really like the idea, but when would it be put in effect?

The member of the month voting will be held during the last week of each month. The staff will nominate up to 5 members they feel deserve the title, and the members will be allowed to vote among those 5.

what if your the one thats put up on there, are you aloud to vote?
Not saying you, but like if I was put up on the list...would I be able to vote against my self or for myself.

I think you should be allowed to vote, but it would be nice to vote for others as a humble way of sort of playing along here.

Yeah I think it may be shaky the first time it is actually tried out, and of course it's more for recognition and gratitude than anything. If by any chance we happen to get a larger inflow of people and things get more interesting, than I can see this idea really taking off.

I still disagree with this, recognition is good but it should mean that everyone, no matter how small their input should be recognised. Almost like a mass event.

And going off topic slightly. It's weird how a lesbian dating agency advert appeared below this topic. There's usually a clear connection between the content and the advert.
