Title: I need user feedback...

Azarath Angel - August 9, 2007 04:47 AM (GMT)
I want you guys' opinions on what we should change. So I have a few questions for you.

1. Should we change the topic viewing age to 30 days?

2. Should we purge the forum and start all topics over?

3. New buttons or keep the old ones?

4. Like this banner or new one?

5. Does the administrator pip hurt your eyes? xD

1. Should we change the topic viewing age to 30 days?
No, I think the viewing cut off date is just fine. I like looking through the older topics without having to change something to see all of them.

2. Should we purge the forum and start all topics over?
Hell no! It's depressing to see all of the awesome topics that were wipped out, but thier titles alone bring back memories and there are still older topics that exist that I like to read from time to for the heck of it. Its like the sites history and I don't feel we should delete that.

3. New buttons or keep the old ones?
I think the current buttons are fine, although I wouldn't mind seeing new ones if someone wants to creat some experimental ones. I would like to have the buttons shortened a little bit in the width dimension so the all the buttons fit on one line. I know right now when the Delete Button is visible it's not all on one line. For those members who aren't staff member though I think this is only visible in PM's.

4. Like this banner or new one?
I like this one; however I like SG's idea of having random banners each time the page loads. I propose using this one and the past two banners, the Cloud and Auron one from the last skin and the Paine one from the original. I have both on my computer somewhere and I can always upload them to photobucket if we need them.

5. Does the administrator pip hurt your eyes? xD
Actually it doesn't really bother me for some reason, course my eyes are still getting used to the new skin and everything. If its hard on the eyes of a majority of the members I don't mind if we change it, since it's not exactly hot pink I shouldn't develop a love afiar with it =P

Everything that TMC said.

I would like a change of buttons, but I dont have the time to make them so its no big deal to me

1. Should we change the topic viewing age to 30 days?
Ne, ive never been a fan of forums which change the cutoff date, It makes the forum seem Too Busy, which is as much of a put off as a dead forum.

2. Should we purge the forum and start all topics over?
Noooooo Doing that would make it very hard to start again, If people come here even if the topics are dead, it gives the illusion of Life on the board.

3. New buttons or keep the old ones?
I like the old buttons, but perhaps it would be cool if they would change to suit the new forum skin a little more, Dont really mind though :)

4. Like this banner or new one?
What TMC said, i think it would be nice to have random banners

5. Does the administrator pip hurt your eyes? xD
I love it! anything like that goes into my instant love section. I like abstract, and i like anything on the red end of the spectrum.

1. noo hate it when forums do that cause then u have to always change it and cant hit back with out refreshing

2. dont purge oO just leave it be even tho theres gaps missing some is still there, and if sg ever brings back the lil game he used to do he could still use it!

3. why not go ahead with new since everything else is getting revamped

4. i like that banner, personally what ever goes there isnt gonna really affect me most of the time its scrolled off the screen

5. no pink is good <3

I think everythings fine...except the buttons. They really dont match the skin. I think we should get something that is still FF related, and has an orange to grey tint.

You all have to consider the big picture here. New members are going to join, see all these dead, old topics, and have nothing to talk about. If we change the topic cut off date, it will allow newer members to talk about more things, and bring more life into the forum. Right now the main priority is bringing this forum out of the slump its been in.

I guess your right, personally i would change the cutoff date to the highest possible, say a year or something, so then it shows some of the newer topics made and still the older topics are obtainable if we want.

1. Should we change the topic viewing age to 30 days?
Yes. As new members come in they will see a ton of topics that have not been posted in... its a lot easier to not be intimidated by fewer topics that are active than a million topics that make it look dead. Because I like seeing them all I'll jsut change my personal preferences, but as for the default, definitely change it.

EDIT: After reading AZA's reply, I would like to add on to my response that doing this will make it easier for new members to create new topics instead of simply rezzing old ones that might have lost its conversation potential.

2. Should we purge the forum and start all topics over?
AZA, I will hunt you down if you even mention it again.

3. New buttons or keep the old ones?
Give examples of news ones first... I like these, but if you have a good alternative it is worth looking into.

4. Like this banner or new one?
I actually really like it. We've never had a newer FF represented in the banner before, so that is a refreshing change. On the other hand, I always liked this forum because it has such high respect for the older games.

5. Does the administrator pip hurt your eyes? xD
Haha... no.

1. Should we change the topic viewing age to 30 days?
Yes, for the same reasons mentioned before. With the rezzing rule, it's almost impossible for new members(and old ones too) to find something to talk about.

2. Should we purge the forum and start all topics over?
You nuts? xD

3. New buttons or keep the old ones?
I don't know...the old ones match quite well with the new skin actually, but getting new ones wouldn't hurt either. So, I'll leave that up to you.

4. Like this banner or new one?
I like this one...but it only has characters from FFXII in it. In my opinion, it would look better with one or two characters from old FFs in it.

5. Does the administrator pip hurt your eyes? xD
No, not really xD

But, I do have something to add. Maybe we should delete all the 0-post count members. I, for one, think the member count is far too high to encourage people to join right now, but if we'd delete all of the 0-post count members, it'd clean up a few hundreds.
And "But what if they want to be active after all?" is no reason for not doing that, they've done nothing special, so they could just as well register a new account.

EDIT: And there have also been some spambot posts, I think these ought to be deleted as well.

kingtard - August 16, 2007 07:25 PM (GMT)
I say a new pip for the elites. cuz theres doesn't match the rest of them.
