Title: New Members?

Melancholy Rockit - March 15, 2007 04:14 AM (GMT)
I was curious if we had gained any new members lately cause I'm used to seeing an intro topic every now and then. So I looked around and the last new member joined Feb. 20. That's just weird to me.

I was wondering if we're still barring new registers or if its just no one is really joining?

BustaMo - March 15, 2007 08:36 AM (GMT)
Yeah I don't know. There is still one idiot that's lurking around and messaging via emails that was banned and he's threatening future problems, but nothing to take too serious I think. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out, but yeah, it's been forever since a newbie joined up lately.

Stephanie - March 17, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)
I'll say, maybe we need some way to rope them in. Like I don't some interesting super topic that will make them join instantly. I don't know but whatever we are doing now is not working, they just arent interested in joining.

Azarath Angel - March 18, 2007 07:27 PM (GMT)
Um...that would be because registrations have been closed since Proxy Man joined.

Ross - March 19, 2007 01:21 AM (GMT)
Yeah, registrations are currently closed thanks to our friend that thought he would keep coming onto the site and posting that spam...

BustaMo - March 20, 2007 04:11 AM (GMT)
You banned his IP right? He just kept coming back under a new one? Loser.

I don't know though. I talked to a few people/members today and they're thinking we should at least open it up for a bit to maybe get some new faces in here. It's dead with nothing. I'll check more often to see if idiots post spam. I'm staff now; it's my job, so I'll do it if it happens.

Red Demon - March 20, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
It's probably been long enough that he's gotten tired of doing it so it might be safe. We're assesing the situation and we'll have a report ready for the media in the near future. (I feel just like the president! Can't get a single straight answer)

Relient A - March 20, 2007 06:48 PM (GMT)
And you feel the need to use big words like "assesing" when you are doing no such thing and really jsut going with your gut.

oh snape!

I've been watching Scrubs on DVD and Dr. Cox is starting to rub off on me. That, and I am a House addict.

Or at least thats what I planned on saying before I realized this isn't the Gnome Forum. Meh.

kingtard - March 21, 2007 03:40 AM (GMT)
you know...it's kinda sad now. I remember when new members used to just fly in...but now we actually need to make a plan to get them...it kinda sux.

Melancholy Rockit - April 7, 2007 07:53 AM (GMT)
....no new ones yet
I wonder why (sarcasm)

Lokkin - April 8, 2007 01:49 PM (GMT)
I have a question, did this Proxy man just spam? or is it possible he could've like laid down viruses and stuff to stop new registrations despite registrations being allowed again?

Or am I just looking for excuses to try to save a poor old forum's dignity?

BustaMo - April 9, 2007 05:53 AM (GMT)
I have a feeling he's grown irritated with waiting, and moved on to terrorize someone else's site. He didn't really do much here, it just got kinda annoying. We just gotta do our job and get rid of crap like that. It's some activity at least.

kingtard - April 9, 2007 02:08 PM (GMT)
yeah, I didn't even realize that someone like that was on the board...but I miss alot of things >.<

Ayesuku - April 13, 2007 04:23 AM (GMT)
My suggestion: open registration. If he comes, just ban him again. If you're afraid he'll do something drastic while there are no mods on, then temporarily assign more mods to keep the place under control.

Basically, the board can't go up if there aren't fresh, new members. If it's not going up, then it's probably going down. So closing the registration in order to prevent harm to the forums is actually causing harm on its own.

Azarath Angel - April 13, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
The registrations are open, we just havent been getting new members.

Stephanie - April 19, 2007 12:03 AM (GMT)
We need like a neon sign saying come to our forum... besides that I can't think of anything that would help in this situation really because if people don't know that theres a forum here then they aren't going to register.. I hate to state the obvious but I felt like someone had to.

kingtard - April 19, 2007 02:47 PM (GMT)
Just ban the ip, it's easy as hell. then no more person like that on here

Azarath Angel - April 21, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
Um...just look at his name. "Proxy Man"

He isnt a dumb noob that knows nothing about computers. He is a dumb noob that knows how to use a web proxy...IP bans wont work.

Then do something about it.

Stephanie - April 27, 2007 07:59 AM (GMT)
I don't know what to do, Im not really computer savi in any way. But ill try my hardest I guess.

Relient A - April 29, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
First step is really inviting people. Harder for me because I don't know any other FF fans myself.

I don't think so. Just look at a the pic I've shown in this thread http://z1.invisionfree.com/forums/Final_Fa...9028&st=0&#last

Lokkin - May 21, 2007 06:06 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure but..

There was a spam attack not that long ago, by a "Proxy man 2" and two other goons, probably the same guy, ridisc was one of them.

I think Ross probably closed registration again because of it.

P.S. I too checked, registration is definitely closed.

Melancholy Rockit - May 22, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
I dont understand why we're worrying about spam.
Hell, we could use the traffic here.

And I dont think Ross is sinking $$$ into this forum so I dont understand why we cant just leave registrations open. Sure, were going to get spam. But at least there's topics then and the possibility of a new member.

BustaMo - May 22, 2007 04:39 AM (GMT)
I'm actually getting eager to doing some work as a mod too... :(

kingtard - May 24, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
You have a great point. Spam mabe what we need to bring the forum back up. I say we give it a shot.
