Questionable species type, but what is this animal that we call Red XIII aka Nanaki?

I'd voting for his canine-like features being the dominant one's here, but I've heard of him being termed slightly as a Manticore.

He is a wolftype creature so a dog.
He has the body features of a dog and not a cat.
I know this becuase I have a dog and a cat.

still reminds me of a cat, though Im sure he is doglike. But to me, he will always be a cat

Yeah, I've never thought of him as feline. He's always been wolf like in my eyes so that makes him canine.

Yeah...he's more like a dog than a cat to me. But mabe he's both, just looks more like a dog than a cat.

Begining of advent children he runs up and Howls over midgar

During the game When he finds out about Seto he howls to the moon (Busta it was right after/before that screenshot you posted)

With this evidence I would say he was more canine/wolf like than Felin like

I belive I read in the booklet he's a feline. He reminds me more of a tiger like thingie than a wolf as well, so my vote goes to feline,

Definetly identical to a dog, Nanaki doesn't quite strike me as a feline more of a canine, and like everyone else said he howls making him more identical to a dog/wolf.

Well like I said, he's kinda both. and if it says in the booklet that he's a feline, than the book is right. Cuz I dont think it would lie.

It doesn't say nout in the booklet about canine / Feline, Just that he is a beast

I always figured a dog like creature because of the howling after the big boss spirit and the roar at the start of advent children. Admittedly some cat like creatures roar, but, not many of em howl, then again, not many dogs roar.

Kinda hard to put a definite answer on that really. Although I still stick to hound.

I always viewed him as a feline, despite the howling at the moon stuff. I thought of him as like a tiger or puma for some reason.

Hes canine, go with the howling, tell me one type of feline that howls. Its not in their genetics. But then again, how can I convince this.....
