Ahh Katana's are forgotten!!! So I voted Swords. That's the Final Fantasy feel for me. Nothing ice's my drink like the upgrading of a sword as you progress through the game. I love it.

"oh! What's that? A Platinum Sword? Sweet Jump'n Jenova on a pogo stick that's great!" *+129 attack power!*

See as much as I love swords, I love great swords. So that was my answer. Probabaly if I was ever in a battling situation it would not be my weapon of choice, but it would definitely be high on my choices. They're not good for blocking but they can deal some serious damage. In Final Fantasy XII they're getting lower and lower on my list because you max damage at 9,999 and that's kinda pissing me off.

I do have to say though that the FFXIII gunblade looks really good though. For a weapon I'd pretty much considered the dumbest thing ever... it actually looks good in the new game FMVs

I voted for Gun Blade mainly because it looks great and brings in a new sort of element to weapons in RPG games. Also from playing Final Fantasy VIII it was one of the best weapons available! Lets not forget in the seen where Seifer fights Squall both wielding Gun Blades they both look uber cool. Finally a bit based off of what Aztec Triogal said that the gun blade that the main character with blue hair in Final Fantasy XIII wields looks great. Looks very hi-tech...

Where are the SPEARS!!!!!!!! Or at least polearms if you want to go by Vagrant Story's lore. I cannot be a true Dragoon or Lancer without a trusty spear.

You know, those are probably the most under-rated weapons sometimes. I know whe I get into a jam and I have a weapon on someone that just isn't hitting for crap, I chuck a Shruiken at the sucker and it does usually deal high damage. Specifically I can remember them being the most useful during FFVI with Shadow and FFIX with Amarant. I can literally remember tons of times where I would need a big hit and I'd bring in those 2 during battles and just nail the enemy for a big hit with the "Toss" option.

I love gunblades(check my name...), but swords will always have a special place in my heart. Especially Buster Sword ^^

Its a close-call between swords and gun-blades I agree while your pulled in to Cloud`s gigantic and lethal sword you look at say... Squall or Seifer`s Gun-blade and they share the same greatness.

Anyway swords I've allways admired, there both quick and powerfull when used correctly both in real life and the virtual weapon. The only thing imo that they lack is range but meh ge up close and fight like a man (So to speak)

I prefer knives dunno why I just like 'em. They're small and deadly

I picked Knives for their quickness, even though they do not hit for high power. They enable speed, and of course the beloved Thieves use them in their finest hours.

knives daggers cutters etc! i love them, they have speed and usualy do a decent amount of dmg, even out side of final fantasy they usually mean more accuracy in other games too, so i go knives!

True but I`d rather go for slow, concentrated attack power than quick elegant attacks but its all down to personal choice really.

Hmm, very good point. I can really see where you are coming from, but I like swords because they go whoosh and then "twang" when they clash with another sword.

Now it's a tough question. If you mean what type of weapon you like the main character to have then I would go with a sword for tradition really. But shurikens, guns and knifes are much cooler I think. I am going to go for shurikens because it's the weapon I would most like to have from that list.
