Title: Im a novice to the World of FF give me guidence
Description: help for newbies

BuRadly - January 24, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
Im new to FF forums(all forums in general, i'll probably need help with this whole deal!) i have played FFX and LOVED it. now i am playing FFVII and loving it. my quandry now is where to go. ive checked lists of favorite FF games and everyone just totally argues. i have played FFX2 for about 30min and was not impressed but will give it another try. My big thing to ask about is what sequence these games are in. i know that FFx and FFx2 are the only true sequels, but what is this i hear about FFVI originall FFIII and so on. then there is FF tactics and anthology .... i'm lost please help. i love FF so far and want to understand it.

To clear up some things...

FFVI, and FFIII are the same games.

FF Tactics and Tactics Advance are different games...completely different games.

Anthology, if I remember right, is a compilation of FF Tactics and one other FF...

FFX-2 is actually a decent game if you can get past the girly europop.

what game should i play\buy next in your opinion

Restless Soul - January 24, 2006 08:38 PM (GMT)
Try Final Fantasy VIII + IX.
Many people are happy with those games and many people here would most probably recommend them.

1+2 can be bought for PS1 in origins pack or GBA in dawn of souls pack.
3 in US is 6 in US, however 3 in Japan is different.
4 is 2 in Japan, 4 can be bought on PS1 with chrono or gBA.
5+6 can be bought for PS1 anthologies.
7,8,9 are Ps1.
10,10-2 are PS2.
11 is compatible with many sysyems and is online.
12 is release pending.
For your next game I would recommend IX as it is my favorite.

There is a little more stuff in VI but I hear they are making a III for the Nintendo DS. I would say IX is one of my favorites.

IX is the hated one of the forums. All the regulars did nothing but bash it before. I haven't even looked in the IX section in a year, so it may have changed by now.

I agree, I love both those game and they become the most popular. Well IX anyway.

I think thats changing, the IX forum is very active lately and its becoming more and more liked among the forum so here comes a new revolution.

I know from many conversations with FF fans who have played both, most eitehr hate IX and love VIII or vise versa. If there's a FF being bashed, it's usally one of those 2.

I personally loved FFIX and would recommend it for you to just play through it once and then give your judgement on it after you beat it. It's worth a try. It was my very first FF I played. Then as you go through and beat each FF game, move on to the next. FFX and FFVII are already under your belt, so you've seen 2 of the best in a lot of people's opinions.

Enjoy your adventure man. :jecht:
