Title: Dress sense
Description: who's got style?!
Leona - November 16, 2005 11:39 PM (GMT)
ok... i was just wandering what everybody though of the different dress styles in the FF games (especially the later ones obviously having better gfx) so, VII was sorta futuristic looking... well.. ish... VIII was reasonably normal, some of those outfits i could see people wearing about... even if Selphie's dress is ridiculoiusly short!! IX sorta went back to medieval style.. but with a bit of a twist... then X, again was even more futuristic.... and XII looks to be going sort of medieval again!! so which style was your fave??? .....and on top of that which character do you think is the best dressed?!!?

so i would say i prefer futiristic :P

I like the FFVII and FFVIII styles...Rinoa was wearing biker shorts lol. I thought the outfits overall in FFX were crazy, talk about a pain if your gonna cosplay someone from that game simply because of all the random accessories and do dads. Lulu's dress pretty much being a ton of belts near the botom was pretty cool. She must be even more of a belt fiend than me. Then Tidus's weird differant length shorts and all the stuff that was just on his left arm.
I didn't really think FFVII's wardrobe was too futuristic, it looked more common to me. Seeing someone in a pink dress with a small red coat or a tank top and a skirt isn't really that futuristic to me. Thier were a few interesting atires though like Vincent and Sephy that you wouldn't see every day.
I remember seeing a topic somewhere on the forum (I think it might have been one of VV's crazy topics) about how it was odd that Aeris wore boots with her dress, but really that is kind of popular now. Not neccesarly wearing boots with a dress, but I see a lot of girls in my area now wearing brown boots that are sorta fuzzy near the top, eskimo boots as I call 'em, with skirts and stuff and that's not too far off from Aeris's look. I think it looks kinda cute...yeah...I said cute...
:rude:
Overall FFVIII probably had the most normal atire. I mean I could see someone wearing a lot of the outifits in that game and I even wear a jacket half the time, although it's not leather with a fuzzy colar.
Hey does anyone notice that the whole Squall style jacket is pretty common now for ladies jean jackets? I notice a lot of womens denim jackets over hear that are all short and dont go past thier elbows but the arms are full length like Squalls.

I like FFVIII's the most. Mainly cause I'd actually wear those clothes. when people cosplay as them, its usually not that bad. I always thought Squall had a good style, I kind of have a coat like his, but its not as short, so i guess its not. But yea, Squall is the coolest dressed dude... and girl wise? Um, Yuna had a cool wedding dress I guess. Cant really think of what would look cool applied to a real person

The Turks collectively had the best style over any group from any game, and I'd probably vote Rude for best dressed person.

Okay my favourite dressed people out of all the ones ive played are
Paine- FFX-2: I love the skulls. Im pretty into skulls and stuff so i was so happy that they made a kind of gothy character so i was realy happy about that and the chainy kind of stuff is awesome. I just think Paine kicks ass!!
Reno- FF7 (turks) : I like his Dress because he has that whole laid back suit thing going on and I think i've always liked that and if Reno was real he would be HOT AS!!!
Vincent-FF7 : Even though they arent really 'real' clothes they still look awesome adn the red cape just goes so well with his robot arm thing so yeah I think he just looks awesome.
Edea- FF8 : I'ts pretty much the same with Edea as people wouldn't really wear her clothes but that doesn't stop them from looking cool. Also her hair just rocks, I wish I could get mine to look like that and plus I think purple suits her because purple is a kind of evil colour I guess.

I, for some unknown reason, quite like the IX dress sense. It just had a good feel about it when i was playing through some of the dark, dingy moments.
Medieval.......with a twist.

Ohhhh good topic Leona :tifa2:
Hmmmm well I'm not sure what FF's dress sense is my fave. I'm not really too fond of the clothers in FFIX, although saying that Eiko has super cute wings! lol! I want wings...
Anyway I do kinda like FFVII's style although some of the outfits are a little too bland for my liking. I mean as great as Tifa looks a tiny black skirt and tiny white vest are a bit boring! I much prefer their Advent Children outfits, there's much more detail in their clothes and the outfits are a nice progression from FFVII.
FFVIII's clothes a kinda cool. I'm not too sure about Rinoa's dark blue skirt and cycling shorts combo. But her knitted top and sleeves are very cool. I always think Irvine looks like a throw back from the Western films, hehe. Selphie's and Quistis' outfits I can see being worn out and about any where. I gotta love Selphie's skirt and boots combo it's cute and Quistis' pink knitted-ness is awesome too.
Then there's Yuna from FFX. I adore her outfit. It's soooo cool that it's based off of a traditional Japanese Kimono. The detail on her skirt and the ribbon/belt are great too. I love Rikku as well cos of her feathers and those long blue bits that come off of her top. If I found a top like hers I would probably wear it. Lulu's top is far too low, and all those belts must be heavy.

Actually it's not that strange that Tidus wears different length trousers! In Japan they have trousers where you can unzip different parts of the leg to make them longer or shorter, like Tidus'. If I remember correctly I think Square actually released a limited amount of Tidus trousers... You would have to double check on that on though incase my incrediable bad memory made it up!
My fave outta all of the though! FINALLY! W00T! lol! Is *drum roll* Yuna in her Gunner form in FFX-2. I love her crazy hair and her crazy skirt and her boots and that pretty multi layered top... Although she has to wear hot pants and they are scawee! lol! Yeah she looks awesome in FFX-2. I hate what they did to poor Rikku... She horrible with her platted hair and her tiny teeny tiny clothes combined with a scarf incase she gets cold... Silly Square! lol!
I've just realised I pay far too much attention to outfits... I think I enjoy character design too much Oo;;; *hides*

Yeah I thought Barret looked like a PIMP in Advent Children hahah with that mesh top of his XD
The Turk - November 17, 2005 01:22 PM (GMT)
I love Tifa's, Paine's, Rikku's and Selphie's clothes the most.
Have any of you seen Battle Royale? Kiriyama in the film looks like Reno would in real life imo. I agree with Ross the Turks had the best clothes, with VII and VIII fighting it out for best overall. Also I don't think VII's are that futuristic tbh.
Layne - November 17, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
It should be established, I believe it has already, that the Turks are collectively the coolest outlet of Final Fantasy on any plain, at least from the games I've played.
I like Rikku's and Squall's attire the most.
Drift - November 18, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
FFVIII in my oppinion, especially Squall, but FFX also had great clothing, such as Auron...
LittleAngel - November 18, 2005 08:06 PM (GMT)
Lets see now......
BEST DRESSED
Gotta be Paine. That is one fantasic outfit. She is goth/cool and fabulous.
:squall: runs a close second with his 80's style fur collered jacket and slightly baggy black trouser combo.
WORST DRESSED
:quina: without a doubt. Just what is that he/she is wearing? Is it a nighty or a piece of hithertofore undiscovered petticote??
:seymour: runs a serious bid in second place. Whatever you do, Seymour DON'T ask if your bum looks big in that outfit.....the answer is YES!
For an overall good outfitted game it has to be FFVII. Most of the characters in that wore clothes that were pretty good, almost normal in fact. Except for Nanaki.....he was naked after all.
Ritsuka - November 19, 2005 12:40 AM (GMT)
Best outfits.
From FFVII: Vincent - Yuffie - Reno.
FFVIII: All(especially Laguna, Squall,Rinoa) , though I'm not to fond in Quistis or Selphie's.
FFIX: Blank and Beatrix. And Kuja's outfit was cool too...especially in trance.
FFX: I hate a lot Yuna's outfit here. And I didn't like much any of the other outfits...
FFX-2 : Rikku's!! It was great!
Leona - November 21, 2005 12:09 AM (GMT)
oh, I just realised i didnt answer my own question!!
best dressed for me... probably *thinks about it* X... I really like some of their outfits, Lulu's and Auron's are great, and I do like Yuna's outfit aswell, I think it suited her character much more than her X-2 outfit (well, the main one) and X has the Al Bhed outfit's which are good and well thought about....
for actual best dressed character however i would pick... Cloud in his Girl outfit!!! :girlcloud: hehehe.. ok, maybe not!!! It'd have to be Vincent, his outfit was really good for his character, and just looks damn cool generally!!!!
